Maybe I'm missing something but starting pitching is the part of team I'm least concerned about. Framber, Hunter, Kikuchi, Arrighetti, Blanco.
the first 3 and blanco are solid. spaghetti has been decent recently but i'd consider it a toss up between verlander and him, and i don't know if i trust him for the postseason even though verlander hasn't really been lights out himself in the past. i think i would want both in case someone inevitably gets shelled and we need long relief.
There's a concern with Blanco's innings and I'm guessing with Arighetti's as well.
Verlander was pushed back to Saturday from Friday with Blanco going Friday now.

Fair points although 4th starter doesn't come into play until ALCS.

No one has mentioned the Yordan issue... The quote from the GM did not sound good. Bad news if he can't go.

Have to assume Yordan can get better rest and rehab at home than on the road. I agree it's not ideal but will take them at their word right now.
Sounds like he was going to make the trip until we clinched. Hoping he just needs some rest, ice, compression, and elevation along with some Nolan Ryan Advil and he'll be all better come next Tuesday.

Agree with most of this except Valdez on three days rest for the ALDS. With the extended post season, most teams have been shying away from a pitcher on three days rest unless it's a do or die.
Would be curious if they'd run Framber out there or some combo of the other three.
Obviously the best scenario is win the Wild Card in 2 and then Kikuchi can go Game 1 of the ALDS with everyone falling in behind him with good rest.

We are winning because we are playing better than the Guardians. We already have home field in the wild card.
Win the wild card and we lose home field advantage and play at Cleveland. Winning this weekend gives us confidence when we have to play there again next weekend in the ALDS.

Night game wasn't on table but I figured we'd get the better later afternoon slot.
Not only given long period of dominance and 'earning it on the field', but flat out population comparison.
Houston and Detroit are the #6 and #14 TV markets in US.
Baltimore and KC are #29 and #34.
I get when we get bumped by the Yankees or a mega market team. But I don't get the logic here.
Even time zone would favor the more western game getting later slot (ala the NFL). Strange.
Going to anyone on short rest over Blanco would be a very Astros thing to do.
Yordan is on the roster for wildcard series and apparently in the lineup today.

No Verlander which isn't a surprise. He was never going to start and we need an extra outfielder/bat in case something happens to Yordan.

Someone on Astros subreddit mentioned the key against Skubal will be to be patient and try to work the pitch count. Would be huge to get him out in the 6th inning or so.
