Swap an average Gurriel for Abreu last year and I think 2023 turns out differently. From several angles...clubhouse, stats, available cash to improve other areas of roster. Any one of those angles could've been the difference in a super tight series that sent you home.

Except gurriel wasn't average last year. He was better than abreu for sure, even though abreu actually pretty good in the playoffs. I agree with some of the points such as money.

I'm a huge la pina fan. But people forget he also has been going downhill quick. Everyone's favorite manager had to fight to get him on the playoff roster in 2022….the team wanted to leave him off.

I'm not an expert but it does seem like his pitches are flat, have no movement and are just sitting there like meatballs over the plate. Not sure what the issue is, could be as simple as he's in early spring training form.

He will certainly be incentivized to get it on track next few starts because he'll be a free agent after this year.
