Where is the best spot to park for a headache free trip to Terminal E for an afternoon Global Entry interview?

There's not

I parked in C and took the underground tram to E

That's what I did as well - park at C, take tram (or walk in the tunnel) to E.

Yes, I was about to say that I'm impressed he got a slot.

I did mine at the library downtown, not sure if that's still available.

If you can get past the homeless smell, it's definitely more convenient.

I got mine done a few years ago at the library, I don't think they do them there anymore. This one is for my daughter. It looks like they open up interviews one week in advance. I don't remember if it was Thursday or Friday that they opened up for this week.

I think the IAH airport is only location now. Best way to get a slot is sign in every couple of hours on the day it shows last available and the window will open. I just made a couple alarms and finally got an apt 3 days later.

I gave up on IAH when I got mine and went to Laredo. It sounds sketch, but it wasn't.

There's a nice hotel within walking distance to the bridge where you can do the interview. There is also plenty of parking right outside the facility if you want to drive over. I had an appointment but I could have just as easily walked in.

Drive down on a Friday morning, do the interview that afternoon, then go order a cocktail and lounge by the pool at the hotel.

Middle of this now. IAH says only spot avail end of April (if I recall), but how does one secure a spot for that day?

There are apps that will scrape the website and alert you when appointments open up otherwise it is a crapshoot at best. Indont recall the names but search global entry on the travel board and a thread I made talks about them.

Depending on traffic day of, may be better off parking in A/B.

If you already have a flight and a ticket to get you past security, you can just walk into their office located in Terminal E for your interview. They close at 4 or 4:30 so it was to work with your flight schedule obviously. I just walked in and was the only person there. I did this back in November last year.

Do you have to have an international ticket to do the walk in interview? I am flying out of Bush in July, but domestic. Would be nice to show up a little early and knock this out.

It's been a few years since I did my renewal....it was so bad that I didn't get an interview within a year....so had to reapply (and repay). I didn't sign up for the 3rd party notifications and wasn't checking daily, but I was checking regularly.

I just did this a month ago and the process was go through regular customs and tell them you want to do your interview then go to a separate line to do your global entry interview. There was no office visit. Unfortunately, the line also serves "refugees" of which there was a massive line. Many wearing Jordan's and the like. Must have been a pretty harrowing trek to escape whatever they are escaping. Several instances the refugees took precedence over citizens who paid extra for an added service. The whole thing definitely gave some new meaning to the term global entry.

This is different than what's been talked about in this thread.

You have your option, where you can do your interview while going through customs on an international arrival.

The other option, which was closed in recent years but appears to be back open, is a separate walk in office in terminal e. You need a boarding pass to get through security but you can go before any outbound or after any inbound flight.

When looking for an appointment I dont recall seeing anything about that online but that obviously doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I know it is different than the appointment setup which is utterly absurd.

I actually went to the terminal e office multiple times before my interview, when I was struggling to find an interview, and it had a sign on the door saying it was closed. So not sure when it opened back up.

Not answer to original post, but just did my renewal request online and much to my surprise no interview required and approved via email in only 3 days. New card came in the mail in 8 days. Was super shocked, but glad!

Somehow, just a few months ago, I got my expired Global Entry renewed without a new interview. How did that happen?

I think this is the norm. I know about a dozen people that got it renewed without an interview. I was not one of the lucky ones.

No idea how they decide who gets to get by with no interview or not.

I paid for the service , discussed above, sent me 2 notifications last evening about open spots- jumped on them in seconds. No luck!

It is the norm. I got mine renewed without an interview and know several people that got theirs renewed without interviews as well.

I just completed mine today with interview but this was not a renewal, it was a new application. I struggled to get a date set as well but like I posted earlier you need to set a few alarms to log in on the day of the last available appointment and something will open up. I can't remember if it was that day or the next day but times were finally available and I chose one that week. Parking in C and taking tram over was easy for actual interview.

My wife needs to do this. Her passport was in her maiden name. Since it was set to expire, we went ahead and renewed it with her married name. We had to provide certified copies of the marriage license, etc. Sent it off to the gov and got her new passport in the mail ~6 weeks later (or something like that). Go online to update her Global Entry and she has to go in for another interview to provide them with the exact same documents (marriage license, passport, etc.) that have either already been provided to the feds or have been actually issued by the feds. Government efficiency at its finest.

A few 20s to grease the process.

haha!

In all reality the hardest part of the process is getting an interview. The actual "interview" takes like 5 minutes and is just a formality.

That's correct. My wife and i did ours in Austin a couple months ago. Once you get the interview scheduled and make the appointment time, you are good to go, unless you have any skeletons in your closet!
