I'm looking for some suggestions on places to go for a fun date night or valentines weekend. There used to be a cooking class business right by me but they aren't there anymore. Sur La Table is filling up. We've been dating 7 years and I'm trying to make this year special.

Have you checked Central Market? They have a pretty good calendar of events.

Seven years you say? You know what they say about the number seven being lucky? Might try getting lucky on the Aquarium ferris wheel on V-Day!

I would avoid sur la table unless your cooking level is microwave TV dinners.

I assume you are going to propose? find a place that is sentimental to both of you. We can't help with that. If you are looking for a nice dinner, this board is sure to to have suggestions if you can share her favorite type of food and part of town.

Don't see a lot of musical theatre deep cut references in these parts.

Grad school and law school got in the way. We've talked about marriage since getting through the UCLA game. I'll always remember that night.
We both have a lot of student loan debt and we are tackling that this year. The future is brighter in 2025. Thank you for all of the great suggestions!

If you decide to go to Danjoy's and talk with the owner, tell him Barney sent you.

He's a great dude and it's a really fun experience.

In all seriousness and with respect, your debts will be more easily paid if you're married.

I got married 20 years ago with about $500 in the bank, student loans and nothing but a job offer that paid me $30k my first year.

The idea that everything needs to be 'perfect' financially before marriage is a thief of the joy of marrying young. Marrying young is a gift.

You'll be stronger financially together.

(This of course assumes that she is the 'one' you ought to marry. If she isn't the 'one' than I think its pretty clear that after 7 years its time to move on!)

How do you know she isn't the lawyer and he went to grad school? Maybe he is an engineer that went for a MBA?

Do it yourself cooking is not suitable for a seven year relationship compared to a surprise all-inclusive getaway flight to a Caribbean island for grilled seafood platters. And let's not poor talk, counselor.
