My parents live off of Fountainview and Valley Forge. They just got power back a little while ago. You should be good soon.
Had to drive to cypress for a job today. Power on at 290 & Telge (lines at that gas station were pretty long). Power was out from Telge and Cypress N Houston all the way to Louetta. Power was on by Telge and Grant.
I sure hope for our sake that this hurricane offseason thread is way longer than the actual hurricane season thread.

C'mon people. No one knows when power will be back and drive your ass to a grocery store. Not every store in the city is closed.

Supposedly confirmed it was a tornado in our area...it definitely sounded and felt like one.

We need some big changes within CenterPoint or we should reconsider their monopoly over all these systems. They own the backup supply as well...I suspect they factor in that for many they will turn to nat gas generators and they profit there as well.
I'm not saying it's their fault in this instance, but they've had decades to harden the grid and yesterday makes it very apparent that any hurricane that comes through is going to cause massive issues. Our grid just isn't prepared and that should make everyone concerned.

So I've weirdly had two things on my bucket list weather-wise:
1. I wanted to experience going through a hurricane. But nothing higher than a cat 2.
2. I wanted to see a tornado. I always said "off in the distance."
Since June of last year, I've been hit by a derecho, hit by a small tornado, and now gone through cat 2 winds (even if not an actual hurricane). I guess doing pretty well checking things off on my weather bucket list.
Though I'd still like to actually SEE a tornado at a distance.
Edit....I did go through Harvey, but that was more of just a massive rain event for us than any wind.

The NG distribution is NOT built to handle a significant number of gas gensets on the system. There was substantial pressure loss yesterday during this event.
Any updates around 77080? Our friend is out of town, and the place she is boarding her dog is closed until the power is back on. In the meantime, we have added one to our three-dog collection.
