Just pull up Google Maps and see how many wrecks and road closures there already are. No good reason to have people out on roadways across the majority of the city when surfaces are wet and temps about to plunge further before they dry.

Enjoy a day off and get back to it Wed!

Just saw a pickup that lost control and spun on the shepherd bridge (over white oak bayou)

It sucks to try to juggle work with little cooped up rug rats at home, but schools should definitely be shut down tomorrow. It's bad out there already in a lot of areas. And if it wasn't MLK day, I'm not 100% sure schools would have closed. This seemed to be a rare event that was worse than the forecast.

Waze has an alert I've never seen before: "Recently Formed Ice."

On most overpasses right now.

Lot's of icy overpasses on the N side. Saw accidents on every overpass around 45 N and 99. We got stuck in one and there were cars sliding down the back side of the overpasses.

Stay home if you don't need to be out!
Are you seeing it just on standard overpasses or the big flyovers? My wife is flying in this evening and I'm thinking she may be going a very odd route to get back home / taking 59 as much as possible based on the Transtar map

Has her flight not been cancelled? IAH is still under a ground stop. BF was supposed to leave XNA at 1 pm on United, and his flight was just cancelled. I'm a little relieved because that drive from the airport to Spring/The Woodlands is going to be a mess tonight.

Drove from downtown Fulshear to Capt Toms and back. The number of people that hit their brakes on an icy overpass is shocking/not shocking. Wrecks er'where.

So HISD is dicking around and waiting while everyone else is shutting down, plus, we all know already that they're going to close.

Not yet...but it's probably trending that way. She'll have to drive feeders all the way home too

Is that Capt Tom's pretty solid? Used to go to Capt Benny's once a year or so until we had a bad food and waiter experience and swore it off.

Got a work email that the office downtown will be open tomorrow and for us to monitor conditions locally. Kind of surprised as we have a ton of employees driving in from Spring, Woodlands, Katy, Sugarland etc. With the school closures and accident reports, I figured we would be WFH tomorrow. Oh well.

Going to be hard for a lot of the outliers to make it in with announcements like this...

It genuinely hurts. I would take a dry 5 degrees over this any day.

Hoping to fly in to IAH tomorrow from Denver. Had to move flight from today to tomorrow. Sounds like I might be taking surface roads all the way home.

What time? Temp won't get much above freezing, but should be sunny which will help.

It seems counterintuitive but apparently, the wind and dry air will help the roads and have the ice recede some. At least per the weather guy that we have at my work (major O&G)

But how will I be able to talk about how lazy my coworkers are?
