Maybe COH/Harris County should get their **** together and work on a plan to fix that absolute nightmare that 610 and the parking situation is during HLSR.
in what universe is there a way to have zero traffic at an event that has over 100,000 people on-site where the event takes up half of the parking spaces that sit empty 80% of the year? Do you think making 610, kirby, and fannin wider will magically make it all better?
Did I say **** about zero traffic? It is a matter of the ingress and egress of the parking and not properly managing the lots entrances/exits.
All i know is the credit card only payment has made getting in a lot slower. I appreciate it as a payment option but it is currently 10X slower than handing cash and getting change back

No mention of the fact Marcus King made an appearance last night?

He's been the best performer to grace the stage this year.

Just about to post this. That dude is so badass. Saw him a couple years ago at White Oak and he shredded. Need to add him to the musical rotation. If you like Blues rock, check him out
Dude is an amazing musician! Has an absolute smoke show of a wife for such a fugly dude too. Proof a guitar changes a man's sex appeal!

Just the fact that there's been so much buzz about special guest musicians tells you all you need to know about the quality of the performers.

Yeah I think I've seen him at least a half dozen times. Met he and his wife a few times. He always makes it a point to eat at Ninfas on Nav when he's in town.

Meh. I see it the other way around. How "original" has the music line-up been in the last 10 years? 15? 25? They're all great performers, but a massive, commercialized rodeo venue (not a comment of this event being good or bad) is already restrictive by nature for who would fit the bill.

Throwing in surprise cameos and guests is just these established artists trying to keep this thing special and interesting. I see nothing wrong with it and certainly don't see it as a comment on the quality of performers. A lesser quality artist couldn't call in these kind of favors to spice it up.

Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they were low quality. Look at Nickelback. Everyone made fun of that saying no one would come and they had one of the all time highest attendances. And like another poster said, low quality artists wouldn't be able to pull in the guests that they've brought.

I didn't realize it was card only now. Wonder if the rodeo has seen any difference in receipts without the old drunk rednecks of the ticket teams handling cash.

And no - not a chance that it is 10x slower unless there was a network outage. They were always slow, even with a member tag and no payment; that's just the volunteers in charge.

I haven't parked on-site at the rodeo in years so i am assuming the rodeo cash lots are operating like they do for other NRG Park events. I know when I've gone for OTC or Monster Jam it feels like it takes for ever for the credit card machine to process the swipe and then print the receipt.

Can't speak to that, but the Astroworld lot always had a problem with cell coverage. I'm guessing they got some kind of boosters put in to be able to use cards out there now.

We went to see Zac Brown band last night. I thought it was a good show. However, I thought the sound system was terrible. Is that the norm for the rodeo ?

Reviewer for the Chronicle said the sound was great for nickleback but the quality probably depends a lot on where you're sitting.

I was there yesterday and decided to park in the old Astroworld dirt lot. I couldn't believe the only way I was allowed to exit was onto the 610 access road, which was adding more cars into an already gridlocked situation. Exiting onto Kirby or W. Bellfort would have made much more sense.

I used to work right across from NRG. Our parking lot exited to Belfort, then I had to get on 610 to 288 to go home. I DREADED the entire month of March when I worked there.

The biggest problem with the astroworld lot is that it's there is only one entrance to that huge lot. 2 lanes to turn into the parking lot one way plus an the opposite direction trying to crossover into a median into the same entrance. Now with the credit card only payment, it delays the line even more. Biggest parking cluster **** ever

Nickelback may have been the best sounding concert ever in NRG. Hard to remember back to some of the first ones in NRG, but in for sure recent memory hard to remember anyone else sounding as close to normal quality. There were a few times the instruments still sounded too loud compared to vocals, but only every now and then. I wonder if it's a type of music issue as well.

Different strength of instruments, different vocals, etc. Nonetheless, if that was your first concert at NRG you'd never know the stigma of the concert quality sounding bad there.

Why all of a sudden the cc only lots? Because the folks they have managing the lots can't be trusted with cash ?

Jonas Brothers beat Tejano day with the all time record attendance. Tickets sold of course. I didn't make it inside to see how crowded it actually was.

Rodeo 2024 by the numbers - Fox 26

  • Total attendance for all activities on the grounds, Feb. 22 24 (World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, presented by Cotton Holdings) and Feb. 27 March 17, 2024 (Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo) reached 2,553,185.

Highest paid rodeo/concert performances from 2024:
  • Friday, March 15, 2024 Jonas Brothers 75,600 (New all-time paid concert attendance record)
  • Sunday, March 10, 2024 Los Tigres del Norte, Go Tejano Day presented by Fiesta Mart 75,595 (second highest paid concert attendance record)
  • Wednesday, March 13, 2024 Nickelback 75,036
  • Tuesday, March 12, 2024 Bun B's All-American Takeover 75,005
  • Saturday, March 9, 2024 Lainey Wilson 74,940

I always figured it was just a wink-nudge tradition for Go Tejano to set the new record every year, but maybe there was a new boss this year.
