Any reseller is holding a ticking time bomb. The longer you wait, the better deal you will get. I'd go to the carnival or rodeo and pull the trigger on a ticket around 6 or so.

I agree with you it wasn't well received. I was in the action seats near the chute seats.
90% of the people were just sitting in their foldout chairs and those standing in the back were just standing. Usually a good 50% of those people are pretty into the show if not everyone on the dirt.
Almost everyone on the dirt was just sitting or standing there with little excitement. It felt like everyone was saving up for the songs they knew.
The crowd REALLY fired up for Broken Window Seranade and I thought they were about to play the songs people knew but they didn't. Went back to songs people didn't know.
The crowd also fired up for Stone and Bury My Bones but that was really it. It seemed pretty clear what songs the crowd was there to see and they weren't playing them.
I left there last night like I did with Hank Jr. I knew what I was getting with Hank Jr but expected a lot more out of Whiskey Myers. It's like they didn't know what songs the majority of the people were there to hear.
I was also disappointed they didn't seem excited about playing Rodeo. I think the majority of people there were excited to see them at Rodeo but they certainly didn't seem to reciprocate the excitement.
Strangely enough, I'd wager more people left Oliver Anthony with more excitement than Whiskey Myers.

Agree 100% with Chewy. This was THE show I wanted to see this year. I know their catalog pretty well, but would have liked to have heard more songs off their first album. But they only get an hour when they usually play for 2 hrs. And Cody had absolutely zero interaction with the crowd at all. Seen them several times and he always something to crowd.

granted your rodeo/concert ticket gets you into the carnival for free. Kind of silly to buy a grounds pass to then go an buy a rodeo ticket unless you expect tickets to be $5 leading up to start time.David_Puddy said:

i'm trying to remember. i think Zac Brown Bands first year at Rodeo was pretty underwhelming.
We saw whiskey myers at red rocks last year not knowing them much at all and left that show a new fan - disappointing to hear they licked last night
Did they close with Johnny Be Good? We left a few minutes early to beat the crowd because I was so disappointed.
Went to the bathroom and came out to Johnny Be Good.
I thought they had one more song so was walking to the top of the seats on the concourse and then saw the lights come on and the announcers come back.
Couldn't believe that's what they ended with.

I don't recall ZBB's first year but I've only ever seen them where they rocked. I think they routinely put on one of the best shows at Rodeo. However, like Michael Bolton at Innatech celebrating Michael Bolton's entire catalog, I pretty much do the same with ZBB. I'm biased to their music.
Chris Stapleton was pretty bad his first year. He wasn't interacting with the crowd at all and just singing to his wife pretty much the whole night.
He's gotten infinitely better as his last couple of shows have been wonderful.

Whisky Meyers has some nice chill driving songs, but if you asked me who I thought would be a better entertainer for a stadium show, boring ol' Zac Brown Band would easily be the choice.

Whiskey Myers played too much off their new album and not enough of the classics. Acoustics (sound) was great from the 700 level.
