Montgomery County Sheriff's Office can confirm that Colby Richards has been found safe walking in the area of Research Forest and Kuykendahl, The Woodlands. Mr. Richards is being evaluated by MCHD medics and a Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Mental Health Unit.
Detectives will eventually speak with Colby Richards about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance; however, it will be some time before he is interviewed.
Thank you to our community, Montgomery County Search and Rescue, DPS, and all the volunteers who aided in the search for Mr. Richards.

Prayers to the family. This is so damned odd. Reminds of that lady from last year that was missing for 3wks and they found her in NOLA.

I hope this is not the case, but kind of sounds like the stories you hear about someone having their first psychotic break. If this is some type of mental issue, I hope it is only temporary and that he can get the help he needs.

My guesses as to what happened in no particular order:
- cheating on wife
- was already on prescription drugs and got off his meds
- big into hard drugs and his family has no clue and went on a bender
- psychotic break
Dude had to be somewhere getting food and water the whole time. It's just beyond weird.

Did equisearch ever even get called in? I thought the Sheriffs called off the search and equisearch never even started. If they never got involved then I highly doubt they ever thought he was dead. I think this story fades away and we never learn what really happened.

You forgot to include the guy who bought a house in cypress instead of the woodlands because he didn't want to be tempted by the DLs
Read where they found the dude in the bathroom of Uli's kitchen. A restaurant worker called it in and they picked him up walking down the road nearby. So the guy disappears into a greenbelt in one of the most affluent areas of Houston, is gone for a week and found 3-miles from his house.
