Didn't get the mail piece; don't think I'm in their target. Just seen commercials. Really odd from Garcia, who's been an insider but is still relatively unknown to the public and should be taking about himself. I always think it's stupid when candidates with uphill challenges spend money to make their opponents look like front-runners.

That's kind of surprising. I don't think she was ever a national Dem party favorite. They just liked that she always voted in line with the party and checks off 2 boxes on the minority bingo card. Even though Whitmire is a moderate Democrat that has the support from conservative voters, there is no reason for the national party to throw a bunch of money at SJL for a Democrat on Democrat mayoral election. Now if Whitmire switches parties while in office, they may kick themselves for not challenging him more.AgLA06 said:That's kind of surprising. I doubt he'll switch parties, but he's a long way from the new standard of Democrat politician in large cities.

I've known John a long time and I know firsthand he really does care about improving quality of life for his constituents. The difference between him and someone like Turner (or SJL) is that he has never been about taking credit. I have every confidence he will do everything he can to make good on what he has committed to doing, but we all know it comes down to hiring the right department leadership to effectively execute his plans.
Slim Thug has endorsed SJL so things could get a little tighter now.
Good news - If/when SJL loses the mayor's race, Amanda Edwards is staying in the CD18 primary to challenge SJL. Edwards already has about $1 million in the bank.
