No, but that's a good call out. I was thinking of Sorrento (had to look on google maps).HtownAg92 said:Giacomo?bularry said:
I'd say in no particular order
Roma
Damarco (Postol)
Amore
Bombetta
Heard Marmo is good, not sure it is classically Italian, but they have Italian flavors. Haven't been to Il Bracco, either, but some seem to love it.
If you want just red sauce Italian-American I'd suggest Paulie's... pretty casual but consistently very good
If you want good pasta dishes I would recommend Rosie Cannonball. Not exactly regionally authentic Italian, but everything is excellently done and service is top shelf.
I'm sure there are others I can't think of that are good. There's another place on Westheimer near Montrose I can't think of, been there a long time even though I haven't been in years.... shoot, can't think of it.
I'll concede, went and looked at menu again and they have more pasta than I recall. I guess I've only eaten the mains.schmellba99 said:Pray tell, what exactly constitutes "italian" in your world?bularry said:it isn't Italian and it isn't that goodIrish 2.0 said:No. It is on Washington just north of 10. The food is excellent, but what has drawn me there so many times is they're a wine store too. Their wine prices are in line with a TW or Spec's. Have a pretty damn good selection tooStat Monitor Repairman said:

Sounds like Antica Osteria - which I just now see is permanently closed....fit the description.ptothemo said:
This seems like the place for this.
I went to an Italian place in the Uptown/Greenway/River Oaks area years ago. I remember it being a converted house on a corner somewhere just inside the loop. It was rather dark inside, and it felt like everyone there - including the diners and the wait staff - knew each other. Most of the diners were relatively old - other than the people there with older folks - and seemed like they had been eating there forever. I don't remember anything specific about the menu, but I remember the food being good.
I have tried for however long to figure out the name of the place and haven't been able to for whatever reason. Anyone have an idea what I'm talking about?
