Did anyone have any luck with tickets? I was in the waiting room at 8:50 on the dot and am still showing to be behind 2,000+ people in the queue.

Not me. Table seats were $278 each when I got in.

I think the prices should come down. They were advertised as "Platinum Tickets" on Ticketmaster. I did research on what "Platinum" means, and basically it is Ticketmaster's way of selling market based tickets, so the price is variable depending on how many people want them. Since they just went on sale, everyone went to the website and drove the price up.

TLDR: Ticketmaster seems to be price gouging

Same. 2000+
I'm pretty sure Bots by them

I got in and it said 2 tickets for section 200 something for $80.50 each. Went to purchase and said they were taken by someone else. Showed available and they were at $175+

Clearly already bought and posted immediately for resale. Such a ducking scam.

Wish people would just boycott resellers and let artists play in front of an empty room.

No luck here, unless I wanted their "platinum seats". Which gets you nothing but overpriced tickets. Tried on 2 different accounts.
F Ticketmaster. How in the world should it be allowed that the leading ticket selling site also runs a leading reseller site.

Those waiting rooms open before the 10 min before the sale that they tell you to join. Idk how much earlier they open, but I entered the waiting room 15 min before the Adele presale and there were a lot of people ahead of me. Same with Taylor Swift the other day.

I have no idea how early you can get in the waiting room, but this issue is just one of the many that makes Ticketmaster a total scam.

I had the same issue with losing seats to other "buyers" the other day with Taylor Swift, too. I'd try to put tickets in my cart, and I'd get the "verifying" wheel of death. It would spin and spin, sometimes for several minutes, and your account is frozen while it spins. Then it would stop and I'd get a message saying someone else beat me out. Then I'd refresh ticket availability and the same seats I'd just tried to get were still showing as available. I did this probably 12-15 times and was never able to get "verified" seats.

What if I were to tell you....that Ticketmaster is both the seller ....and the reseller?

If you've got a few John Oliver did a good piece of the scummy ticketmaster policies. Main takeaway is that TM is just the bad guy so everyone can profit more.

Quote:

Members of the antitrust division's staff at the Justice Department have in recent months contacted music venues and players in the ticket market, asking about Live Nation's practices and the wider dynamics of the industry, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is sensitive. The inquiry appears to be broad, looking at whether the company maintains a monopoly over the industry, one of the people said.
Looks like the inquiry began a while back, but is in the news because the Swifties are pissed.

Yeah, if they wanted to solve it just make them non-transferable and require an ID or photo. Venues and artist taking a cut of proceeds and want the prices driven up.

I'll admit I'm not a big concert-goer, but at least one I've been to, supposedly TM did just that. When Adele toured in 2016, she did two shows in Houston. Both sold out, but I had no problem getting tickets right when then went on sale. I remember her saying she didn't want resellers buying up seats and jacking the price up. Supposedly they were non-transferable.

But at the actual show there were a lot of empty seats. I always figured they weren't able to prevent it, and the resale tickets didn't have as big of a market as anticipated. No shows for 2 years thanks to Covid has resulted in a lot of crazy demand, so now those resales are lucrative. And I think even the legit concert-goers are buying more tickets than they need just to resell the extras.

Ticketmaster has no incentive to do anything to prevent the website from getting overwhelmed with bots and resellers ("Verified" buyers or not).

Now that they've gone to "dynamic" pricing, the tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist in me is willing to believe they don't allow you to put tickets in your cart because their algorithm is in the process of jacking up the price. Basically an electronic version of bait and switch.

White Oak did it right with the in person presale after I struck out at all other shows. Got to hang out with friends for a few hours, but moderately over priced beer, watch a free show of a decent band, then bought the tickets that night.

Glad I got to see Childers open for Turnpike and again at White Oak downstairs without crazy high prices.

I'm still mad they cancelled the show with him and Sturgill Simpson during Covid.
