Wanted to try a new spot for lunch today so I went by First Watch across from the new Home Depot and Total Wine between Studemont and Taylor. This place is fantastic and reasonably priced. Be mindful it closes at 2:30 PM.
I started off with coffee and they pretty much nailed it out of the gate when they put a thermal carafe on the table for me to refill at my leisure. I was pleased the coffee did not suck. They also put a carafe of water down. Any place that does that starts off with five stars before the food even comes out.
I had the chickichanga and my husband had the trifecta with a waffle. The portions were good sized and the food was delicious. The chickichanga is basically an egg and shredded chicken enchilada with some dressed up hollandaise sauce on top. This sauce is nice and bright and makes me eager to go back and try their Benedict. The potatoes are well-seasoned with some excellent crispy bits. The waffle was good, but the berry compote takes it over the top. I could eat a bowl of that compote and be satisfied.
Our number one choice for solid brunch food in our area is Homestead, but if we don't want to spend Homestead money, we would go to Corner Bakery (good and reliable). First Watch takes our new lower-price spot because the food is better and comparably priced.
The only complaint I have is it was ice cold in the restaurant, so take a sweater if that's an issue for you.
All in we were under $30, not including the gratuity.
