Anyone heading out to the Robert Earl Keen concert at the Woodlands on Saturday? Several folks performing prior to REK. Doors open at 1pm, concerts start at 2pm.

Anyone have any guesses what time REK might take the stage? Guessing maybe around 6pm or so.

Chilifest was always around April, not in the middle of August when it's 100 degrees and 100% humidity. Haven't been in a very long time, but back when I went everyone had tents and cover as well if you paid for a spot.

I did. Got there the night before. Hung out with our "team." Didn't sleep. Got the worst sunburn ever.

I never went to Chili Fest (was usually working), but I've been to some all-day music festivals in the Summer. I just can't do that anymore. Summer heat feels very different in my 40's than it did in my 20's.

One of the things I miss the most about Houston is mcgonigles mucky duck and the Continental club.

So those two guys there, amongst many others. Both very great and very different venues.

Well that plus Alabama Ice House, Kay's, little Woodrow on Richmond, the Marquis II, Ernie's on Banks, Blanco's,

And the best damn little bar in the world…. Boondoggles in Seabrook.

I haven't been to either in so long. I miss my early houston life when I was going on wierd adventures to places like those. I used to go to continental and double trouble quite often

I remember them bringing out the pitcher, pouring a mug or two, then putting the ice baggie in there. As a cheapass, I would not have stood for not full pitcher.
Side note, whenever places put the ice bag or similar into the beer pitcher, the beer always tastes watery. I am guessing it is from condensation on the ice floater, but it shouldn't collect condensation if it is submerged in the beer. Maybe it is all in my head.

You're right. There was mission tortilla next door. They had a great patio with a huge oak tree and the bar was usually open air. It's been too long I guess.
