Generac installation scheduled for Aug 1. Fingers crossed until then.
Cost will depend on what is gas vs. electric in your house, number and size of A/C units, etc. $13-$16K is a good start for planning purposes. Install scheduled 6 weeks after the down payment for scheduling and permits. They already have the generator in stock.Milwaukees Best Light said:
How much and how long was the wait?
Wind in the state was down to 696 MW earlier in the afternoon...now all the way up to 1,850 MW. Yay wind.wessimo said:

I went all in this year on a non-standby option.
Generator: Duromax 13000eh + nat gas conversion to tri-fuel. I've got 120 lbs of propane to use before needing to use the nat gas.
Interlock with 50a connection.
50 foot nat gas line with quick connect to meter and 25 fr 50a cord to connect.
Only thing left is a hard/soft start for my AC and I should be good for an Ike type outage.
Only downside is I have to start the generator but I'm less than 3k all in vs the 15k for a standby.
I first talked to Collaborative Services the last week in June. Got an estimate, put down 25% and installation is scheduled for 1 August.Chewy said:
I talked to Generator Supercenter yesterday and they said it's about a 7 month wait. I guess they're just backed up as it looks like generators are available. I've reached out to some others so waiting on them to respond.
Next 10 days of temperatures per the NBM model for the four major cities of Texas. Not great! pic.twitter.com/DHXHAa0sw0

I don't even think they warned of blackouts, just asked for energy conservation which is not all that abnormal. It did get a little dicey on Wednesday, but still no blackouts.BrazosDog02 said:
Are we fussing over ercot noticed warning of blackouts even though we have had no blackouts and have been within capacity for the hottest days of the year so far? Just want to know what size of cloud I'm yelling at here.
