Earlier today, Harris County Judge Lena Hidalgo issued an update on Covid-19 levels in Harris County, raising the Covid-19 Level to Level 1.
In line with this update to Level 1, our Houston office remains open on a voluntary basis and unvaccinated teammates who work in this office should work at home until the risk level subsides.
For unvaccinated teammates who work in the field in Harris County, you can continue your essential work, wearing a mask at all times and socially distancing when possible.
If you need help with a different arrangement, please talk to your manager to work out a solution.
As you know, we follow federal, state and local guidelines, updated on XXXXXX
All of us contribute to a safe and healthy community let's do what we can to care for each other as we deliver for customers.

It's part lawyer-speak, part corporate happy horse**** nonsense. In other words, the worst of all worlds.TarponChaser said:gougler08 said:Yeah that's just a lawyer covering the companies assTexan_Aggie said:

Did you miss the parts about unvaccinated teammates and the fact that we have a corporate vaccine mandate?
Plus, even if it is legal CYA, I'd expect executives running a Fortune 500 company to not be buying into the fear-mongering.

Covering the company's from what? How on earth could anyone definitely say they caught covid at work? And why the hell would anyone sue in the first place? I certainly wouldn't hold the company at fault if I was on that jury.

Add in the fact that osha, in their infinite wisdom, made Covid a recordable and this is a predetermined outcome.

COVID-19 can be a recordable illness if a worker is infected as a result of performing their work-related duties. However, employers are only responsible for recording cases of COVID-19 if all of the following are true:
The case is a confirmed case of COVID-19 (see CDC information on persons under investigation and presumptive positive and laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19);
The case is work-related (as defined by 29 CFR 1904.5); and
The case involves one or more of the general recording criteria set forth in 29 CFR 1904.7 (e.g., medical treatment beyond first aid, days away from work).
Employers should follow the OSHA enforcement guidance found in the Updated Interim Enforcement Response Plan for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Visit OSHA's Injury and Illness Recordkeeping and Reporting Requirements page for more information.

Yeah I don't think we are either, I'm guessing because it can't be proven a person got it at work so don't meet all the criteria that was posted

Democratic leadership is slowly starting down this path it seems with the CDC head saying 75% of people who died had 4+ comorbidities, return to work in 5 days now, etc. Way too late and of course conveniently in time for elections this year, but at least slowly going that wayStat Monitor Repairman said:
I'm shocked at the speed that all this went down.
We coming up on 2-years from the very first trickle of covid 19 news coming out of china.
Nobody knew what it was at the time, and we all assumed it would be like SARS or some type of flu, and it would run its course.
You go back to the first pages of his thread and that was the general consensus.
But thats not what happened.
There was so much money being thrown around during the early days of covid,
We overreacted. It was self perpetuating hysteria. People walking around HEB in a homemade space suit. We all lived through it. People went absolutely BSC. And even people who traditionally demonstrated good judgment.
We should have given hospitals resources to deal with the sick, and let covid run its course.
Tell people to try and get healthier. Address known covid risks, vitamin D, obesity, etc., and utilize existing therapies. Have a variety of covid treatments immediately available if you get it, try to deal with it early if you can.
The obsession over testing has got to taper off.
The vaccine has got to become am extension of the flu shot for people that want it.
Covid is gonna have to be treated exactly like the flu.
The faster we move in that direction, the better.
