Still hard for me to root for the Titans, even with Tannehill on there.

Sometimes I really wonder how people who are C-suite executives got there. Especially when they send emails like this. Keep in mind they instituted a corporate vaccine mandate and made very clear that anybody who chose to not get vaccinated and was unable to secure a medical waiver (which in most cases would be considered temporary- such as those with recent infections who needed to wait to get the vaxx) would be considered voluntarily separated and would lose any unvested stock or outstanding bonuses. The threat of that financial loss is why I got the shot despite having naturally acquired immunity via a prior infection.

This sht just plays into the fear porn and power-mad demagoguery of Dora and the merry band of covidiots.

Earlier today, Harris County Judge Lena Hidalgo issued an update on Covid-19 levels in Harris County, raising the Covid-19 Level to Level 1.

In line with this update to Level 1, our Houston office remains open on a voluntary basis and unvaccinated teammates who work in this office should work at home until the risk level subsides.

For unvaccinated teammates who work in the field in Harris County, you can continue your essential work, wearing a mask at all times and socially distancing when possible.

If you need help with a different arrangement, please talk to your manager to work out a solution.
As you know, we follow federal, state and local guidelines, updated on XXXXXX

All of us contribute to a safe and healthy community let's do what we can to care for each other as we deliver for customers.

Did you miss the parts about unvaccinated teammates and the fact that we have a corporate vaccine mandate?

Plus, even if it is legal CYA, I'd expect executives running a Fortune 500 company to not be buying into the fear-mongering.

It's part lawyer-speak, part corporate happy horse**** nonsense. In other words, the worst of all worlds.

Covering the company's ass from what? How on earth could anyone definitively say they caught covid at work? And why the hell would anyone sue in the first place? I certainly wouldn't hold the company at fault if I was on that jury.

Agreed.

Company lawyers are simply talking to their friends at other companies and following the herd. Nobody is doing any kind of thinking, and everybody knows that the first one to stick their neck out with any kind of reasoned analysis will be replaced immediately.

Add in the fact that osha, in their infinite wisdom, made Covid a recordable and this is a predetermined outcome.

Quote:

COVID-19 can be a recordable illness if a worker is infected as a result of performing their work-related duties. However, employers are only responsible for recording cases of COVID-19 if all of the following are true:
The case is a confirmed case of COVID-19 (see CDC information on persons under investigation and presumptive positive and laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19);
The case is work-related (as defined by 29 CFR 1904.5); and
The case involves one or more of the general recording criteria set forth in 29 CFR 1904.7 (e.g., medical treatment beyond first aid, days away from work).
Employers should follow the OSHA enforcement guidance found in the Updated Interim Enforcement Response Plan for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Visit OSHA's Injury and Illness Recordkeeping and Reporting Requirements page for more information.

Yeah I don't think we are either, I'm guessing because it can't be proven a person got it at work so don't meet all the criteria that was posted

Which I think is why you get the lawyer speak previously mentioned and crazy dumb policies. It's hard to prove you caught it at work. But, say every single person in one team in close contact in your plant got it. That makes it a little easier to prove. And that many recordables can ruin your year. Not worth the risk

Considering what I have seen plants do to get out of actual recordables, there is no way one would record COVID as a recordable because it is to easy to say they got it somewhere else.

Another overreach from that organization. And people wonder why I want it disbanded or limited in power at least. Absurd that can even be considered for a respiratory illness

Yep.

You 100% right.

You got a single agency of the government with its foot on the brakes.

If the economy was a bus, going down the road.

OSHA has seized control of the drivers seat and is now driving the bus.

And OSHA has got her foot on the brake, and is pressing it.

Thats what we are seeing.

Insurance companies are gonna have to come up with some workers comp like legal regime to deal with covid risk.

You cant sue your employer, but if there is a covid outbreak at work, then you go under workers comp.

And also the states and federal government limit available actions for covid, generally.

Something like this is gonna have to happen.

The fact that it hasn't happened already should tell you something.

We have to assume the risk as individuals. Covid is not going away.

If we see something like that develop over the next year. I'd consider that progress.

No doubt. I'm vaxxed. My choice, everyone else can do whatever the hell they choose. But this is absolute BS propaganda. To blame the unvaccinated for something that the vaxxed are getting just as easily is conniving and evil.

I'm shocked at the speed that all this went down.

We coming up on 2-years from the very first trickle of covid 19 news coming out of china.

Nobody knew what it was at the time, and we all assumed it would be like SARS or some type of flu, and it would run its course.

You go back to the first pages of his thread and that was the general consensus.

But thats not what happened.

There was so much money being thrown around during the early days of covid,

We overreacted. It was self perpetuating hysteria. People walking around HEB in a homemade space suit. We all lived through it. People went absolutely BSC. And even people who traditionally demonstrated good judgment.

We should have given hospitals resources to deal with the sick, and let covid run its course.

Tell people to try and get healthier. Address known covid risks, vitamin D, obesity, etc., and utilize existing therapies. Have a variety of covid treatments immediately available if you get it, try to deal with it early if you can.

The obsession over testing has got to taper off.

The vaccine has got to become am extension of the flu shot for people that want it.

Covid is gonna have to be treated exactly like the flu.

The faster we move in that direction, the better.

Had this exact conversation at work yesterday with someone who thinks OSHA mandating vaccines is a great idea that's well within the purview of OSHA's responsibilities.

Democratic leadership is slowly starting down this path it seems with the CDC head saying 75% of people who died had 4+ comorbidities, return to work in 5 days now, etc. Way too late and of course conveniently in time for elections this year, but at least slowly going that way
