I think at this point, anybody with a wallet or bank account to protect is going to cancel their events or get togethers. Now that so many have done it, it will become WAY too easy for somebody who got infected to sue an event organizer, saying "everybody else took the prudent step and cancelled their events, but you didn't and you also didn't provide any screening of attendees that might have prevented my client from becoming infected".
