Drove by there today. Right next to it is a granite counter place. Wonder how many pieces broke.
The latest injunction hearing was right before mine this morning. They got an extension for 14 days to be present when any City inspection or investigation goes on. It seemed like it wasn't much of a battle any more. ATF finished and left the site to HFD, who says they are done and don't plan on taking anything off the site. News cameras were there, but it was pretty much a non-event.BMX Bandit said:
Main reason is to advertise for the attorney
But in at least one of cases, they got a preliminary injunction which will get them an observation spot in the investigation to the cause

Proud to report the Dirty Branch has gone one whole week without a massive explosion. Might hit Blue Lagoon later and toast to our surprising success.

Without knowing the law, I could see the argument against it being a class action lawsuit. If the court addresses these claims on "first come first serve basis", then the folks that filed at 12:30 yesterday don't want to go from first in line to just one of hundreds in a class action suit.
So they'll stick the company in chapter 11 and effectively end the race to the courthouse.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Marvin Isgur began by telling a courtroom packed with lawyers for explosion victims that he'd "rarely been angrier" than he was upon seeing the motion filed by attorneys for Watson Grinding & Manufacturing and Watson Valve, which asked that Watson be allowed to swiftly pay off the company's bank loan in a discounted $3 million lump sum with insurance money. The implication of the company's emergency motion, according to the judge, was that Watson executives were putting their own needs ahead of residents harmed in the blast as well as two workers and a local resident who died as a result of the early morning explosion.

I have no idea of the financials of Watson, but if the bank is secured (I assume they have a first lien over much of the business), then they will get their's before the others. Maybe paying them off at a discount is in the best interest of all the creditors - might possibly provide more funds for everyone else.Ducks4brkfast said:Panama Red said:

Is it too late to call Buzbee or Eric Dikk? I'm still experiencing more trauma that I really didn't anticipate in the early aftermath.
