It's an oddball iwc that's been out of production for almost 20 years.

How much would you guys offer a high end jeweler for a ~$5k watch that's been sitting a couple months (preowned)?

Without knowing any info, it sounds like you'd be buying for yourself.

I'd look up the model on eBay or chrono24 to get similar comparable and see where you'd be comfortable buying it.

Very fact specific but I would throw out an offer at 60% and tell them they have my phone number.

Thanks guys, it seems to be priced fairly based on c24 listings and ebay solds, so maybe I'll just see if i can get a couple hundo off

I was browsing on bobswatches.com and saw this. This looks like it would be a helluva gameday watch.

Surprised there's no discussion here yet on the new Patek Cubitus.

This Twitter thread has some discussion of the design process.

I'm no fan. That hodinkee article is interesting though and goes in to their move away from steel watches. The Twitter thread talks about their design process. TLDR the CEO DGAF and makes what he wants. Design team is essentially 4 people.

I've tried a few on. Meh.

Now those two GO watches he showed him are my kind of watches.
Not really following. I really like both.

To me the GO vintage collection and the GS are similar appeal, just more refined / classy look on the GS while the GO Sixties is more edgy.

Hence why I like the GO's and not the GS's, I guess.

That's funny, I was just educating my fiance last night on the existence of the word "Hence"! I guess she's not alone on the confusion.

If we are going down that road, I was always taught "hence why" is grammatically incorrect. Hence is to be used for future uses as in therefore or for this reason. In the past you use "hints".

Stupid, I know.

AG
I think you're right about "hence why" but I've never heard of "hints" being considered the past tense of "hence."

Quote:

Hence Past Tense Meaning
According to the search results, the verb "hence" does not have a typical past tense form like other verbs. Instead, it has been used as an adverb, adjective, or a phrase to indicate consequence, time, or direction.
In the past tense, "hence" can be used in various forms:
  • Past Simple (Indefinite): I henced, We henced, He/She/It henced, They henced (Note: These forms are not traditional past tense conjugations, but rather creative uses of the word "hence" to convey a sense of consequence or direction.)
  • Past Perfect: I had henced, We had henced, He/She/It had henced, They had henced (Again, these forms are not traditional past perfect conjugations, but rather extensions of the word "hence" to indicate a completed action prior to another action in the past.)
  • Past Continuous (Progressive): I was hencing, We were hencing, He/She/It was hencing, They were hencing (These forms are not traditional past continuous conjugations, but rather creative uses of the word "hence" to convey a sense of ongoing action in the past.)
  • Past Perfect Continuous: I had been hencing, We had been hencing, He/She/It had been hencing, They had been hencing (These forms are not traditional past perfect continuous conjugations, but rather extensions of the word "hence" to indicate a completed action prior to another action in the past, with ongoing action in between.)
It's essential to note that "hence" is not a typical verb and does not follow the conventional rules of verb conjugation. The forms listed above are creative interpretations and not widely accepted or used in standard English grammar.
This is a very important topic, and us watch connoisseurs must get it right.

Okay, I've been lurking on this thread for so long and can finally join the discussion. A couple of years ago, I bought my first "nice" watch, a Nomos, and soon ready to buy a second. For this next watch, I've narrowed it down to a Tudor Pelagos 39 or an Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch. Very different, I know. I think I'll get more daily use out of the Pelagos, so leaning that way, but I've always wanted a Speedy so don't want to regret not getting it now. Question for the group or FTAC - the Speedy retails for ~$7k and the Pelagos is ~$4600; is it possible to get the Speedy for substantially less than $7k gently used or otherwise discounted or do they hold their value such that it makes more sense to buy new? If the prices were closer, it may make me change my mind and go Speedy. sorry for the rambling

If you're talking black dial speedy, I can get you new for 18% off MSRP. Used I can get to you for less. The sapphire runs more than hesalite.

Tudor pelagos used running about 4k right now. New it's hard to get a discount on them.

I'd be happy to help you with your next purchase.

If you haven't yet, it may be worth looking at a Speedmaster Racing 40mm as well. I have one, because I like the look of the Speedmaster but didn't like the way the Professional sat on my wrist. If you were interested there, you could probably snag one off of Chrono or eBay for $3,500 or so if FTAC couldn't find one. Most of the ones I've looked at came from Japan initially, although that may not be a problem for him since the Zenith I got from him has a Japanese warranty card.

ETA: The Pelagos 39 is also a good choice, and I should have one that FTAC tracked down within the next week.

I think I wear my Speedmaster Racing (bought off of TexAgs many moons ago) more than any other watch in my collection.

Love that watch.

I swore I would only use FTAC as he has the best pricing for Breitling and Omega that I know of, but I made an impulse buy.

But for anyone questioning; FTAC was great to work with and I also lead him to a deal off of TexAgs that turned out great. Seems to be a lot of new eyes here, but I'm sure a few dozen folks will vouch for him!
