As the owner of a old datejust, the jubilee bracelet is gonna be rough.

This is the kind of info I was looking for. I want to be able to show the year but am not that concerned about Ship of Theseus as far as the bracelet and crystal. Are people swapping with aftermarket or Rolex oem bracelets? Is that a thing. Same question for the crystal.

That is a high level literary reference my friend, good on you.

You don't need the papers to tell the year of a 40 year old watch. Assuming you were born in 1984 that would mean Rolexes with a serial number starting with 807xxxx and before the ones starting with 861xxxx will have been produced in 1984

In my opinion, you won't find any Rolex worth owning for the 2k budget

Great info.

And as an aside, I like when companies keep sequential records for this kind of stuff. Random serial numbers are the worst. My main experiences are with watches and guns, and it's great being able to trace them to production year.

Where do you think the line is as far as price? And what should one expect?

Right now there are 6 men's watches in the US listed on Chrono24 that match the criteria using a $5k price cap and assuming the year the seller has entered is true.

See if this search results link works

My watch biz partner currently has this one in stock I think he's asking 3600 or so. It's a 1984.

Wow, that response time has to be a record given the specificity of the request.

I said next year dammit. I should have waited till October to start this.

But that is perfect and the right price. Do you do layaway?
FTAC2011

Yes I can do layaway with a deposit and a layaway fee.

It uses my inventory money, so I hope you don't think a fee is me just being greedy, it just ties up money that would otherwise be making money.

Layaway fee is 3 points a week, if you miss a payment, the vigg gets tacked on to the principle. You miss two payments, you miss two knee-caps, capice?

Also I just made your decision easier. He actually just sold it and hadn't updated the shared spreadsheet yet.

I can help you find one when you're ready though

I know this is probably a big purchase for you.

My advice is free, so take from it what you will. However, with the current state of the market and scarcity of good vintage pieces that meet your criteria, I would jump all over FTC2011 offer and put it on layaway today if needed. That's a great looking watch.

I've decided to list my Explorer II for sale. I have loved wearing it but it's time for a change. I bought this watch last year from a beloved Texag-er, but I never can seem to keep a watch for more than a year without getting the new watch bug. It's a 2004 based on the serial number data that FTAC posted. I would call it good to very good condition. I'm asking $6,000 firm which is better than you will find for a similar condition watch on Chrono24.
Let me know if any of you are interested. TIA

Yeah, that new polar is sweet. I generally prefer the smaller case (except for my GMT II because Batman lol)

I much prefer the smaller case. Small wrists

That's a great watch, and for those of you guys scared of 41mm, I believe it's actually 39.5mm. It wears very very small.
