Wearing the CW Trident today. I've really grown to like the undulations on the blue face.

Are those plates from different shipping companies in the background? They look exactly like several I have seen with company logos on them.

What are your thoughts on the new white gold calatrava? I love the pebbled almost grosgrain dial, and it has the traditional hobnail pattern on the sides of the case. 40mm with decent lug to lug, beautiful exhibition caseback.

One of the better looking Pateks imo.

Good eye. Those are from Odfjell and Maersk.

HA nailed it. Are you in that industry? Feel free to PM me so we don't clutter the thread.

Also - I just realized today is the one year anniversary of my very first non-Fossil watch purpose.

By the time I posted the post I've linked, I'd been lurking the thread for several months, and researching watches several months before that going to the back end of 2020. I've always liked wearing a watch, but was ready to upgrade from Fossil to something that would last a little longer and I could maybe build some memories with.

I really thought I was going to get something in that Christopher Ward to Longines range to start out with. But when FTAC2011 posted one of my dream watches at a great price - I took the plunge and splurged (and was pretty terrified along the way).

What started as a curiosity grew into a fascination, and finally an addiction. I have not taken the advice Joe Boudain gave me a few months after - I've purchased a lot of watches over the past year. Other than those shown here, I've had two other Rolexes, an Omega, and a Longines. It's been a blast and I'm so glad I fell into this hobby.

As I've mentioned a few times I know I've only been able to buy some of these since I'm single - I'm taking advantage of this time while I have it. We'll see what the next year of watch addiction brings…

You like bourbon?

I love bourbon, but I'm still in the phase with bourbon that I was in with watches three years ago: "Why the heck would somebody spend four figures on a bottle of whiskey?"

Which begs the question- do y'all that are into watches have other hobbies?

I can appreciate nice watches but I've got my Seamaster and I'm good with it. I don't feel the need or particularly have any interest in a collection of watches. But then, I spend my money on high end fly reels, high-end vintage fly reels, vintage rods (especially bamboo & fiberglass), my boat, and of course hunting & fishing trips. I also have a thing for vintage double-guns like LC Smith and Belgian-made Brownings.

Similarly, I love good bourbon but I also refuse to get into the craziness that it requires to get a lot of stuff these days.

I have theee kids in elementary school, so my watch hobby is severely limited right now.

Craft beer, Astros, and Space Cowboys baseball. That's where my hobby money goes these days.

Nothing overly fancy, but here's the typically daily driver.

My question for the group, I'm not overly interested in spending 2 hours driving to Houston (the closest big city) so I'm looking online for my next purchase. I know chrono24 is something to avoid and other like crown and caliber are known to be reputable. Anybody have any experience with Swiss watch expo out of Atlanta?

I'm pretty sure Silian Rail just purchased that maroon speedy from Chrono24. I've browsed that site and seems legitimate to me.
I've bought from Swiss Watch Expo and Chrono 24. No problems with either

I spend a fortune on travel. So far this year we've done a week at Disney World, a week in Jamaica, a week in France, a long weekend in Chicago to see Chris Stapleton at Wrigley Field, and long weekend in Pasadena for the Palomino Festival, a long weekend in Sonoma with a Virgin cruise and a week in Sedona left to go for the year. I can't pull the trigger on $5,000 watch but spending the same amount to go somewhere for three days for a concert doesn't bother me at all.

Lol, I'm in the same boat. My CW Trident 300 should be here today. I've been watching the DHL tracking like a hawk, so I finally just signed up for text alerts when it's out for delivery.

Happy New Watch Day! What are you getting?

Edit: Finally made it to Austin...

I finally have something to contribute to this thread. My previous watch history was to buy a nice-looking Fossil watch and wear it daily for about six or seven years until it started looking beat up enough to replace. My current watch was getting to that point, so I decided that I should get a new watch for my 40th birthday A few months ago I opened up this gigantic watch thread to see what it was about. I was plunged into a subculture that I previously had no idea existed. This thread along with tons of Youtube videos have been very educational.

I have too many kids to spend that much money on a watch, so I settled on a Hamilton Khaki Field watch. I liked the history of the brand, and this watch seems to be versatile and able to dress it up or down with different bands, depending on the occasion. Maybe in the future I will add a dive watch to my collection, but other than that I will just have to look at all the pretty pictures.

Had been eyeing a black CW Aquitaine GMT and too good a deal to pass up. Usually, 1130 GBP but got it for 833GBP thanks to the discount. Comes to $925 USD. Will still get hit by customs but for much less. Nice catch!
Came today... digging it. Same model as my bronze but I really couldn't find anything else I liked as much in the same price range. Sapphire bezel is my jam apparently.

I think I will be able to get it for MSRP, the tag heuer special editions don't ever seem to sell out, especially for a $26k watch, even if it's a tourbillon

Congratulations, and your priorities are in the right place. I would trade my entire watch collection to have more kiddos.
