No, just Pluto. I asked if they had a bunch or just a few and the guy wouldn't tell me. Apparently each store gets one or two versions at random times and they are kept in the dark as to what and when until they show up.

That's exactly why I got them lol. FTAC2011 got me hooked with an Omega SeaMaster…..craving began there. I don't have enough funny money for an expensive every day where. So I thought these Seiko Mods would satisfy my needs and wants….for now.

I'm wearing it today and it's definitely a cheap watch. The second hand ticks are quite audible and the large second hand used for the timer is a bit off of perfect 12 o'clock. The crown also has a two position adjustment (date and time) even though this watch doesn't have a date function.

All that said, it's about what I would expect for a $250 watch focused much more on aesthetics than quality. That said, it's still a fun bit in my mind even if I won't wear it very often.

I'm a huge Seiko fan boy... have been since I was a kid, thanks to my Pops.

As an LOLpoor that will very likely never be dropping five-figures on a wristwatch, my current grail piece is the blue Tudor Pelagos.

4 figures is a lot to drop on a wrist watch. Heck 3 figures is nowadays when the time's on our cell phones.

A Tudor Pelagos is a worthy grail piece - maybe the most specced out watch for the money.
(I'm currently wrestling with pulling the trigger on a BB58)

I had heard of Seiko mods but didn't really know what they were.

Not what I was envisioning. This seems more to be fake Rolexes that have a Seiko dial swapped in.

Yeah, I'm actually curious how this watch is created. Looks like he's taking a $50 Seiko movement and inserting into a fake Rolex with a Seiko face. Not that there's anything wrong with that if that's what floats your boat. I think it looks good.

But a Seiko Marinemaster is a lot more expensive than this watch. Even an SKX would be more expensive.

Typically it seems like when people talk about Seiko mods they're referring to taking something like an SKX007 and replacing the bezel, dial hands, etc. But the underlying watch DNA is unchanged.

From what I've seen, they're usually not even keeping the Seiko dial. They're just slapping a Seiko logo on a fake Rolex/AP/Patek dial.

They may be cheaper than a Marinemaster, but those movements themselves are cheap. I've heard before that a lot of the ETA/Selita/Seiko movements that these "cheaper luxury" watch manufacturers use can be had for $8-$20 on Ebay.

My personal opinion - these types of mods are better when they exhibit a great deal of uniqueness, so that they maybe share similarities to the homage target but aren't a direct copy. Rather than wearing this:

and having someone from a distance get all excited to take a look at your Hulk, only to be told it's a fake Rolex case with a Seiko logo slapped on it, I find more appeal in this:

Where it's not going to be confused for any popular watch but could serve as conversation starter and really is more of a unique modification.

That's wild. I was there at 5:30ish yesterday and it was a complete afterthought to swing by. It didn't even cross my mind to buy two or three but in hindsight I clearly should have to share the wealth with the Texags watch thread (at cost of course).

So has it been confirmed that Swatch is purposefully holding back supply to create demand? Was thinking when these were released that they said they would be available online in short order and in abundance.

Yeah, after I saw your post I called when they opened this morning and they said they had none. I Didn't believe them because I thought they might make you be in the store, so I stopped by at lunch and they said the same thing.

I think they walked back the online part of it just because it was bringing so many people into their stores.
