Thoughts on Tudor Black Bay Pro or Tudor GMT?

Same complication, same movement (same company obviously)
39mm vs 41mm
Non-rotating bezel vs. Rotating bezel
Same bracelet, Pro has an updated clasp though which looks nicer (would expect this to be added to GMT in future years)
Both thick watches, I heard the Pro is .1mm thinner

Biggest difference is obviously aesthetics. Do you want an Explorer 2 homage or a GMT Master homage? For me it's without a doubt the GMT, the Explorer 2 is a great watch but just isn't my look and the same hold true for the Black Bay Pro. Looks like a great value watch and if I ever saw one in the wild I'd definitely comment and ask for a closer look.

My next watch will likely be a GMT, and I'm currently considering the Black Bay GMT, BBPro, and the new Longines Zulu Time.

I love the look of the BB GMT, and thought it would for sure be the one, but the Longines is also very nice and has really consumed my thoughts lately.

I agree with all that.

I'd go try both on and think about what you're planning on wearing them with. IMO the GMT is a little more versatile. I think about the following settings with a watch:
- Suit or blazer/slacks
- Generic work attire (collared shirt and pants)
- Weekend attire (polo or t shirt and shorts)
- BBQ/Pool attire (shirt and swimsuit)

To me it's a tie the last two categories but I think the GMT wins in the first two.

Black with the brown leather strap is quite nice.

I like that. 42mm with that thin bezel demands an in person try on to see if it's too big, imo.

Agree. I really like the look of all 3 (black is classic, the green has the vintage look, and the sunray blue is awesome).

For anyone considering a Black Bay GMT, I have read nothing but glowing reviews on the Uncle Seiko jubilee style bracelet and I love that look:

I'm a Tudor guy, but unless you want a multi tone sporty / fun kind of GMT watch they don't have a model for you. Something more sophisticated like that Longines is really nice. Even if it's less expensive.

The Black Bay 58 is about the only thing comparable and its not GMT.

not to re-hash this debate, but those loud bezels don't scream "suite attire" to me.

I agree. I love the sporty BB GMT look, but the green Longines really speaks to me as well. I will need to try them on before I can decide.

I generally agree but I do think it would well with a blue suit or blue blazer in the right setting.

Looks good:

Doesn't look good:

I wonder if our sport watches w/ suits finally pissed off Farmer enough that he abandoned this thread. Haven't seen him pop up recently.

Popped up from my favorite watch YouTube channel this morning and seems relevant to the conversation:

I like Teddy because I know anything that is borderline on his wrist will definitely fit mine. TGV also.

Very technically impressive watch, but wow how busy and crowded can a dial get.

Christopher Ward has some new watches dropping tomorrow. A pic of them has leaked. Looks like those with a dislike of the logo should be pleased.

I like Chr Wards, almost pulled trigger a couple of times.

Sapphire bezel w/ lume - did not see that coming....

How the hell do they not make a black dial for this?

As requested. I have loved the Bronze I got and catch myself admiring it often. I am extremely intrigued by this Black GMT. It would be redundant in style to my Bronze but I do love its look more than others that would cost me much more.

What should I add to the collection?

I've sold three watches in the past three weeks, so now my collection is back down to two mainstays:

I'll keep it to sport watches, as the datejust is dressy enough for me right now and I'm hoping a JLC Reverso will be in my future (but it's at least a year or two away). Ideally I'd like to find a everyday/beater around $2K and then just sit around a while and wait to catch a good deal on a higher end ($8-12K) piece, maybe something from FTAC or a Rolex AD in the next year or two. Here are some that I'm liking at the moment (obviously a couple of these sit in between my two budgets):

I've found that I like watches with "flashy" (for lack of better vocabulary) or maybe textured case designs, I'm not into your typical everyday watch like a Rolex Explorer, Omega Aquaterra, etc. So as much as I'd love a Spring Drive movement, GS's case designs just don't really speak to me. What other suggestions do you have? I'm going to do some shopping around in the next couple months.

Black bay or speed master for sure

If you like the vintage diver vibe of the Black Bay but want a cheaper option then check out the Oris Divers 65.

I've tried both on and the Oris actually has a slimmer profile and feels more vintage to me. PLus you can pick up pre-owned for $1200 or so.

I like the Green Oris the best of these four. Not only because it looks sharp, but because those other watches are upside down and I'm not sure why someone would buy an upside down watch. Would be hard to read.

Macy's is running a 25% off select watches with promo code FRIEND. Looks like that Hamilton is included.

Macys: 25% off select watches w/ FRIEND
This is unusual. Sure Macy's runs 20% 25% off deals on their stock of watches from time to time, but Hamilton is almost always (or just flat out always) excluded. But it looks like their Hamiltons are included this time. They've also got some new brands and models just-in, and even some of those are up for the code:

TheOC16

Nice find.

They also have Frederique Constant and Longines.

And pre-owned Rolex...? Though even with that promo-code, the two I looked at are overpriced.

Edit to add, I did look closer and it appears the Hamiltons don't come with the factory warranty, so it would be about the same as purchasing from Jomashop.

Haven't looked into the warranty but according to the Dappered post, Macy's is an authorized dealer and they claim you would get the factory warranty. I'm assuming that doesn't apply to the pre-owned watches though.

Quote:

Yes you could find some of these watches for less from some sketchy gray market shop on eBay or somewhere else. But who knows what you're getting with those types. You're certainly not getting a factory warranty. Which you will be with an authorized dealer like Macy's.

I looked at the Khaki Navy Batman at Macy's, and with the code it's still a bit more expensive than Jomashop. I tried a Longines Chrono Master and a Hydroconquest, and neither qualified for the sale
TheOC16

Don't know if you're actually interested in a Hydroconquest or just experimenting the sale, but I have a black 43mm I'm trying to get rid of.

Yep, in November I think.

My foray into nicer watches has taught me that I don't like my watches as large as I used to think I did. I wish I would have bought the 41 because it's pretty amazing for the price. But 43 is just a bit big for my wrist.

Kicking around the idea of another dive watch as a change of pace from my skx, but I would want the 40mm if I got one.

39-42mm is kind of my range that looks right.
