I feel like it's a smart move from a marketing standpoint. There aren't a lot of young people who can afford or even know what an Omega is. This at least gets more of them in the door. Kind of like when Mercedes made their first sub 30K sports sedans to get young professionals into knowing they'd likely upgrade in the future. But what Rolex did was change the dial color on the OP, which takes it in a little more casual direction and prevents overlap with something like the Datejust. I don't see that being a very risky move.
What seems much more risky for a brand is using a high end luxury brand on a cheap product, which is exactly what Swatch is doing by plastering the "Omega" and "Speedmaster" logos on a $260 watch.

As a guy who owns and wears a real OG moon watch I think these are whimsical and fun for what they are. A $260 piece with a unique story and some cool (and some awful) color combos.
