I have bought 3 watches from AJ, he is a great guy

I do not believe Zadok has Omega though
They do now!

I tried on the speedy sapphire sandwich

They've got quite a few seamaster iterations to choose from, they all look good in person.

I'd check with FTAC first though.

I'm thinking aqua terra. Seamaster pro or planet ocean. I've gotta try them on first and see what fits best. I've got small wrists so I'm worried neither of the divers will look good.

I have the new speedy sapphire sammich, but I don't love it. Gets the least amount of wear of my watches.

You try it on some different straps yet? To me that's where it would really shine:
https://delugs.com/blogs/delugs-lookbook/delugs-lookbook-omega-speedmaster-sapphire-sandwich

It plays well with every strap imaginable.

I tried it on a croc strap, it just doesn't seem to go with anything. It is the smallest 42mm watch I've seen. Looks very tiny on my wrist

I need omega to make a GMT around 40mm. Really want a GMT Master, but good luck. Tudor GMT is a bit tall, but wouldn't be surprised if that's what I end up with.

I have a planet ocean as well. It is very thick and heavy (that's what she said). I don't have large wrists either.
With the steel bracelet, it is a very heavy watch.

That thing is massive. Feels way too big for my tastes.

As someone said. If you don't wear it, find someone to wear it for you... and also give you lots of money. Then find something you really want.

Agreed. I'm must be a mouth breather because I'm just too hard on my watches to wear anything other than metal or rubber bands. They just get dirty or wet all the time.

I've been shopping for a vintage Speedy, but now I'm having second thoughts. I love this look, and it's much better than the Black Bay 41 that originally caught my eye.

The dial on the blue Aqua Terra is one of the best I've ever seen. Color changes a ton based on the light. You can even tell in the picture. I prefer the older model that had the vertical lines rather than the newer models that are horizontal.

I also find leather straps to be much more comfortable than bracelets. I think there is a misconception that they are harder to take care of. I find that a quality leather strap will take a beating better than bracelets. Bracelets get scratched and leather will get a nice looking patina with age.

I don't know why, but to me the older vertical lines make it feel more formal and the newer horizontal waves make feel more casual/ sporty. I like both.

I tend to agree. I think the vertical model paired with the brown leather makes it a watch for all occasions.

Phenomenal watch and easily one of the best values in this price range out there among mainstream brands. Which one did you try? The rose gold/ss combo, black bezel on black rubber is my favorite of the bunch.

so i just learned that the functions on an apple watch are also called complications. that seems ridiculous. its a small computer, not an actual watch. outside of residing on the wrist, there isnt much in common. I dont even think most people use the timekeeping as the main function on most smart watches.

Funny story: i had lunch yesterday with a watch nerd buddy, he's wearing his new black bay and I'm wearing my sinn (which needs a service because it loses like a minute a day). I had a meeting at 1 and my buddy looks at his watch and goes "dude you gotta go, you're gonna be late" i look at my watch and say "nah i got a couple minutes don't i? Wait... this watch is slow and i haven't set it in a couple days" he goes "let's see what time it really is" and pulls out his phone...

Understandable. Time keeping is not my one motivational priority when I wear my watches.

Yeah, I've always called them apps because it's just a mini-iPhone on your wrist, and the only apps I use are for running/working out and music.

I don't like it the rest of the time. It's the opposite of a good watch:

Apple watch:
  • Mass produced by Chinese slave labor
  • Worth $0 within a decade
  • Uninteresting, everyone's seen it
  • Impersonal
  • Distracting to look at with a zillion apps and notifications

Good watch:
  • Produced by Swiss/German/Japanese craftsman who works on 10-150 watches per year, depending on the shop
  • Worth a good percentage of purchase price within a decade, or maybe even appreciation
  • Interesting, most people haven't seen it
  • Personal, with a story or style preference behind the selection
  • Calming to look at and appreciate

I just don't like smart watches. It's fleeting technology of today and you still need your phone. It had no real history or tradition and it won't stand the test of time like a nice watch.

I guess that makes me just a regular guy with a nostalgic side and a hate of the technology age we can't escape.

Edited to cut out some dramatics that are more about the drama I'm dealing with in life right now than a watch.

When I see someone with a smart watch I think less of them. And I know lots of very successful people who wear them. Many more successful than me, because I'm not.

It's fleeting technology of today. It had no real history or tradition, it won't stand the test of time, and it hints at someone who can't appreciate the success they so desperately want. And it indicates to me it's more about a dollar and fame than the good done and that legacy.

I guess that makes me just a regular guy with both a nostalgic side and I hope I can someday leave a legacy for the right reasons.

Got all excited. Currently on a quick weekend trip to Finland. Walked into the Helsinki Rolex AD and saw that they actually had watches in stock! Lots of 36mm steel and TT DJs, but only TT 41mm DJs. No 41mm steel DJs, no sport models.

So close

That's the reason for me too. I go back and forth on whether to have the convenience of an Apple Watch or wear a real watch and disconnect a little bit. My real watch is a tag aquaracer, so I'm only allowed to lurk here.

I know there is a lot of love for Tudors on this thread. I don't care for the blockiness/squarness? of the hands. I guess I prefer more arrow/pointy hands.
I know this is just my opinion.

I get it. I'd rather the Rolex hands, but I think that's the point.

Tudor is literally the closest thing you can get to a Rolex not only in looks, but in design, ownership, and history. And they're a 1/3 of the price. The one hand is really the only difference in looks.

You're basically buying the prince instead of the king. And the price and one small design differentiator reflects that.

I don't judge someone wearing a smart watch and even though I now wear my Apple watch more than anything I still prefer my Seamaster.

However, as much as I love the Seamaster it can't track my exercise routines and activity which is why I have/wear the Apple watch.

edit: I really don't use a single app on my Apple watch other than the fitness tracker and I actually have the watch face set as a GMT so I don't feel like such a nerd wearing it. I also have it in a pretty clunky, Rhino Band so from a short distance it looks more like what a G-Shock would look like if it were rectangular.
