The PADI has the "turtle" shaped case; along with the sunburst dial and is 45mm. The bracelet is a little higher quality and shinier as well. The sunburst dial is absolutely beautiful, and the extra 3mm of size make a big difference on my really large wrist.

I think I have a slightly different version of that Seiko 5 (I have a pic of It on a nylon strap a few pages back. If they are the same, the case size of the 5 is noticeably smaller. The watch is also water resistant, but it definitely isn't a dive watch.

I would say on the Seiko side that the Marine Master the Astron and the Ananta lines are "high end". On the Grand Seiko side, they are all high end.

It really depends on what you define as high-end. If you have only ever had wal-mart watches before, then yes, a Seiko is high end. If you wear nice watches a lot, then most of them would not be considered high-end watches.

Grand Seiko is. The ones posted on here are not.

Sounds like the thread morphed (devolved, some obviously would opine) from a high-end to (perhaps) high-quality/bang for buck discussion.

(and I'm ok with that myself, although I appreciate the former as well)

I'd say that, in Japan, they don't seem to see a problem with a brand, say Toyota, having both an entry-level product and a high-end, luxury product. In the US or Europe, Seiko wouldn't have different lines, they'd have different brands, sort of like Rolex and Tudor, except the Seiko range is wider.

The difference between Seiko and Timex is, one, a matter of range. Timex doesn't have a Grand Seiko equivalent. Two, it doesn't have the range of automatic watches that Seiko has. The auto vs. quartz vs. wind movements will probably be discussed on this thread at some point.

Timex will always be just a digital watch company to me.

Going to do a slow build back into high end. This is one of my favorite watches the Omega Seamaster Professional Ceramic Chronograph. It maintains the signature Omega Seamaster look, but at 44mm rather than the standard 41, perfect for dudes with big wrists.

For some reason theyre not huge sellers, and the resale value is terrible, they sell for about 6k new and I got this one about 3 months old with everything that was a Boutique watch for $2800.

Like it. I've had the blue face sea master for several years. Really want to upgrade to a speed master

And thank God we're back to showing TexAgs' love of gingham/plaid.
