Well technically I'm out of place because I'm in Dallas and this thread is "local" Houston watches, but this is the best watch thread I've seen here and it's responsible for planting the seed making me want a GMT. I asked back on Nov 10th the dumb question about why they were selling for so much over MSRP and y'all were nice enough not to dogpile me. Two days later I reached out to the salesperson I've bought a couple things from at a store that's also an AD. A little less than a month later, and I have to say it looks as clean in person as it did on this thread.

Anybody want a Calatrava 5396r? I came across this pre-owned one today that is currently sealed from its recent factory service. It could probably be had for 32-33k.

I would be happy to facilitate if anyone is serious. I almost pulled the trigger myself, but didn't for some reason. May revisit in a few days but thought I'd share in case anyone wants a damn good deal on a classic piece.

Their power meter annoys me.

Speaking of annoying, the Rolex AD I had a really strong connection with told me he didn't think he would have anything for me, based on trends he was seeing and (I at least appreciated his honesty) the customers in front of me on his lists, before Christmas 2022 at the earliest. Thinking of giving up on the Rolex dream for now.

I don't love it either, but Lots of high end watches have a power reserve indicator. I believe you can get a version of the white dial without.

I bought the snowflake and actually like the power reserve indicator because I think the dial can look a little bland in lower light settings. I think the additional complication on the dial pairs well with a lot of simple straps.

It looks that way in the photo and in very bright sunlight it can appear that way, but in most light settings the strap is more of a UNC blue (those aren't my photos but I do have the strap).

disappointed to hear that. I was picturing you spending an afternoon blocking and framing the perfect picture of your watch.
