I like the idea of gold watches but they just look weird on the wrist. Maybe because the last one I saw was a sub and it looked massive and tacky

No. Not wanting to spend a ton for a daily wear watch. I like the look and size (42). I like the name recognition.

I know their are better made watched etc but I like the fact it's a known brand and that's it's affordable.

If I could afford a sea master I'd buy one, but I'd rather not drop the coin on it at the moment.

Get an Oris, Longines, or Seiko. Or a used Seamaster, Speedmaster, SuperOcean if you want to stretch your budget a bit.

Most likely going quartz as well. Being left handed and wearing watch on left hand I get nervous with an automatic.

For something like that, I might go gray market like Jomashop.com. You're likely to find a significant price reduction. At the very least keep that price in mind when you talk to an authorized dealer. A dealer won't make that much of a price cut, but you get the watch same day and you get the manufacturer's warranty. You can compare the difference and see how much that means to you.

Why would you pay that much for a quartz watch?

You can get a nicer watch for less money. If you are trying to impress someone that knows watches, Tag ain't it.

A vintage Heuer like a Monaco or Carrera is looked at differently than post 90s-Tag. Heuer was really respected, especially in the racing industry.

Tag watches, especially something like a quartz are way overpriced for what they are. So they aren't respected by people that like watches.

If you want a nice looking watch that will keep time and be respected, a Seiko is a better option, and far cheaper.

The longines looks good. I've never seen that one before looking online. Is the automatic aquaracer a better buy than the quartz? I've seen online e it could be had for around $1500 new.

Also curious what yalls opinion on the Omega sea master is? Is it worth just waiting and getting a used one for around $3k over say a new aquaracer or longines?

Seems like your resistant to Oris for some reason, even though at their price, they're the nicest diver you can have.

I do like Longines, but only the ceramic version of their hydroconquest.. the bezel on the non ceramic with the slightly busy dial is too much going on. But the ceramic version is sharp.

Your selection of used 3k seasmasters will be sparse. Probably need to bump it up 600-1k to get one you'll actually like.

Oris to me seems a little to blingy. Not a fan of the sunburst type of color look either.

This is a chronometer grade dive watch with day and date for $1500. Great value, really sharp watches.

What about a citizen ecodrive? There are some great limited editions in the 42mm diver genre and its hard to argue with their legitimacy as a dive watch

I love my Citizen and actually use it a lot while diving.

My son borrowed my titanium Citizen dive watch and yada yada yada I only see it when he visits.

Throw on my night Hawk eco drive a lot. I think citizen is good for the price, especially when you find a good deal on gray. I got the nighthawk for something like $169 on sale. Same with seiko flightmaster.

Oh dear God, just when I think we have turned the corner, someone is pimping a Citizen.

Austin, as others have said I wouldn't go with the Tag. Sure the Aquaracer has a nice look, but as a true daily wear Im told that aluminum bezel will start to take a beating over time.

If it was me I would do a Seiko. I have a blue sunburst Padi Dive that I just wear on summer weekends and it is a machine! Get one in black if you want a more neutral look. Truth be told I get more questions/compliments on that than I do any of my 8 Rolexes-including the Hulk and Batman.

... but having said that I would probably do a Tag before any Christopher Ward or dare I say a Breitling.
