We've been getting bands of significant rainfall about every 45 minutes since 6am in kemah. Can't see the other side of the lake.

I'm guessing this thing heads further south (Corpus area) and we get about 5 inches over the next couple days. No big deal.
People here at work were already talking about sitting out the patio tonight and watching it roll through as the winds pick up. Gimme a break.
Sure, it could wind up being another overhyped Rita scenario, but with present conditions it's likely to get really ugly in places.
The boss man told just told us that employees that can't make it to work due to weather conditions can subtract an official vacation day.
If a significant weather event (or other event, for that matter) gives enough reason for the company to dictate that coming to the office is as the discretion of the employee, then yes. No way should a vacation day be charged for something like this - that's a dick move made by people that like to have hairy nutsacks resting on their chins as much as possible.
I would assume that, given the circumstance, you would agree that the company should be liable in the event an employee is hurt or dies on the way to work because the company would not put safety of their employees first?
You like to talk a lot about dude parts.
quote:Yep, said flocking to the stores stocking up like this was a hurricane was unnecessary and that we'd look back on this in 24-36 hours and realize it was just a rain event, nothing more.
Judge Ed Emett pretty much talked down the whole thing just now.

Obviously it piques your latent interests. That's ok though, I don't think too many people here will judge you.

What's up with the surge? Know when the highest tide is predicted?

quote:daycares tend to close when a leaf blows off a tree. Ask them when the make up day will be.
I'm working from home with both kids here thanks to the stupid daycare closing for less rain than we've had any given day the last month. SMH
And they'll probably be closed again tomorrow.

quote:I was livid when they didn't make up a day earlier this year after always touting that they follow whatever Conroe ISD does for bad weather. Apparently that's only for the benefit of closing, not making up the days CISD does. Hypocritical much?quote:daycares tend to close when a leaf blows off a tree. This all feels overblown.

I need it to rain so I won't look like an idiot who didn't go into work.

Local news now saying 6AM tomorrow is when the big storm will hit Houston.
