Funny how these weather people know zilch about being right on the weather. If our firm was as wrong as they are on a consistent basis, we'd all be fired

Did anyone see Ruben Galvan's weird platonic brolove fest with the toothless black veteran/former semipro baseball player?
quote:That was a dumbass comment by the boss. Totally irrelevant, and wrong.
One chick in my office who lives a block from me: I'm leaving at 11am with a loaner laptop. I ilved in a hurricane for 5 years and I don't take this stuff lightly. We live right by the Bayou, its only got 2" before it overflows and Studemont is already flooded. Shelby says its already getting bad. I talked to our director and he said he'd talk to my boss if he needed to.
Me: Damn. Maybe I'm not freaking out enough.
My direct Manager: Its not going to be a big deal. We don't live in Galveston. That's where it is hitting. Really. We'll get rain. Dallas looks bad, but Houston looks fine. Don't worry. Probably going to clear up around 5.
Me: Damn. Maybe I'm freaking out too much.
quote:Yeah, finally dumped her ass.
You lived in a hurricane for 5 years?

I don't know who is more annoying ... the people that freakout at the weather or the people who understand when to freak out about the weather.
quote:Seriously. I had a guy try to call in at 9 PM yesterday. He somehow managed to get here this morning but is planning to leave early.
Already have people calling in because of weather. People that don't have ability to work from home and live a few miles from office. Some times it feels like I'm running a daycare.

Looks like CenterPoint is starting to take hits...it was less than 100 before Bill started making landfall...

I'm guessing this thing heads further south (Corpus area) and we get about 5 inches over the next couple days. No big deal.
People here at work were already talking about sitting out the patio tonight and watching it roll through as the winds pick up. Gimme a break.
Sure, it could wind up being another overhyped Rita scenario, but with present conditions it's likely to get really ugly in places.
The boss man told just told us that employees that can't make it to work due to weather conditions can subtract an official vacation day.
