So I will be commuting to the woodlands for work by the anadarko tower, and my wife will be going to PT school in the med center. What are some good areas that would be close enough for her to get to the med center but for me not to have to sit in traffic all day?

Almost everything in between is the ghetto. If you don't have kids, live in midtown and you drive north. If you have kids, live in The Woodlands and she can take the Woodlands bus down to the med center.

Commute from BW8 near Clay isn't bad. Look at Jersey Village, Spring Branch (parts of which are undergoing gentrification), some neighborhoods off of West Little York or Tanner near Eldridge. Drive into med center is okay, but go in on I10 not 290.

The Heights/ Garden Oaks area would not be a bad idea. Your wife could take 45/288 and you have a straight shot up Shepherd to 45 going against traffic.

I would not worry about a drive to the Woodlands very much. You will be driving 70 and it will not feel like you are driving in traffic. Not speaking from hefty experience, but drove from Pasadena to CBI (very close to Anadarko) for three months while on an audit engagement. Could make it in 45-50 minutes everyday no sweat. (Via the Hardy toll road, not sure what 45 is like going outbound in the AM)

Spring? I live there, and it's not bad. 40 mins to downtown, 20 to woodlands.

a lot of people are looking at Brooke Smith right now. It's an easy trip up north on 45 from there and it won't be a bad commute to the Med Center either.

I'm not sure if you're looking for an older home though.

I live in the Heights and commute to Conroe daily. Most days, I cruise at 70-75 until BW8, then 75-80 the rest of the way. There is a slowdown at the future Grand Parkway construction, apparently because people like to look at cranes. Otherwise, only wrecks slow down traffic. They occur about once or twice per month. If you check Houston Transtar before you leave, you can detour to Hardy Toll Road when there is a wreck.

I get to Anadarko in 25 minutes, Conroe in 38 minutes.

Yeah Heights to 610E to Hardy seems like winner to me.

The Brooke Smith neighborhood is bordered by North Main, Airline, Cavalcade, and 45.

30 minutes gets you to both areas from Fall Creek. I live in Fall Creek and have family in Woodlands, Midtown and Heights.

Fall Creek is actually a really good idea if you want a newer home in a MPC.

You can get a lot for your money and its almost equidistant for the commutes.
