I once "seriously dated" a woman. Then she got fat. Then she got single.

That's kind of like being married, instead of her getting single, you get fat so you're both equally miserable during sex, her just moreso

Bought a diamond online and took it to Shaw Jewelry and had them set it for me.

Bought a diamond online, no problems. Just do your research on what's a good diamond, get a GIA cert, and have the diamond matched to it when you get it set/appraised. I used jamesallen.com for the center stone , and I know many people who have used bluenile with no issues. I then took it to Jay at Jonathan's Fine Jewelry to have it set.

Great friend and can make anything you throw at him. Kinda in the hood but good prices.

I second Jonathan's Fine Jewelers. I used them, and have reffered 6 others now. You can custom make anything you want, I just showed thema picture from a magazine and the re-created it. Since they're a wholesaler, you can get the diamond for quite a bit cheaper that through a jeweler.

Jonny's a good guy, he can help you out.

Go to a really over-priced place in the Galleria that will sell you the same diamond and metal for 50% more just so you can say you bought it at a cool place.

Go to Houston fine jewlers or whatever the place is called off Westheimer, just east of Gessner, that tried to charge me $25 to remove one link from my Swiss Army Watch.

hahaha I'm actually class of 2008.

So am I and I know I am still too young. I have too much that I want to accomplish. Hell, some of my friends who are married, also class of '08, tell me they wish they were single sometimes.

To each his own. Good luck with everything.

ya the last part you said is definitely something I'm more interested in than the 2ct monster. just the way I am personally. hmm...seems like i have to go to jareds, revisit helzeberg and robbins bros, and hit up the aggie jeweler....although buying from someone not is a store makes me worry about the warranty and long term wear and tear that may occur to the ring....instore retailer just seems safer for a first time buyer. and 24 isnt too young, i just know what i want and have it.

oh and the save for the house comment, we already live in one together hahaha so i can't use that one either...starting to think i screwed myself....lol

Chuck will be able to get you the best deal on a ring and will teach you everything you need to know about diamonds in general. Tannehill and Acie Law used him, thats all you need to know..

I'm very happy about what I got for a reasonable price from Chuck and will be going back to him shortly for our wedding bands..

I'll be 25 when I'm married, don't let em rag on you too bad..had my fun in undergrad/grad school, when you know..you know

a lot of the advice you find on here is why divorce lawyers make so much money..

www.aggiejeweler.com plus you get to back to CS, never a bad decision there

Thumbs up for whiteflash diamonds. A .7 to .8 ideal diamond in a good setting will look a lot better than a mediocre 1c in a crap setting.

Also thumbs up for Guitarsoup doing the photography.

Too young.

Went to Jonathan's, and I was very impressed ... Jonny helped me with my purchase, and he was fantastic! He didn't pressure me, and he explained every part of the purchase. He really wanted to make sure that I got the ring that I wanted, and, on top of that, I saved a lot of money on a great diamond.

You need to go to Chuck. You will get a higher quality product for way less than what anyone else will charge you and you will get exactly what you want. I saved about 6K on the ring I bought by going to him.
