How long do you want to ignore this user?
Alright folks, its about that time. I've seen previous threads on here about Aggie Jewelers in Houston. Does anyone have the contact info?

Has anyone bought diamonds from online retailers? any good ones you could point me in the direction of?

if anyone has any contacts/jewelers/friends they trust that work at any major jewelry store I would be open to any info like that as well. I've looked at Helzeberg and Robbins Bros. and like a few things there but I wanted to broaden my search, specifically at the aggie jeweler i saw on here a while back.

Help me out!!

I've purchased one before, the best advise I can possibly give is, DON'T DO IT.

Trust me.

You're welcome.

I've heard to only deal with the dealers in the galleria area. I'm sure somebody on here has contacts.

Chuck has treated a lot of people here really well. I bought from Jared's because I stopped by to see what they had and some guy was there with his wife exchanging something he got for her, and he gave me the $1700 in store credit he had from the exchange. But I also agree with the don't do it advice. Spend the money on a nice Rolex or IWC.

Try out chuck at fifth c jewelry. Not in Houston, but in B/CS.

Side note, if you are class of '13, it's too early to be getting engaged. You still have your twenties to have fun, you haven't even bought the ring yet, you can still turn back!

dude, i got married at 25, and I was waaaay young ( i have an awesome marriage and kids, so don't anyone ***** to my wife), you're what 21???? you need to go pound out some bargain bin 99 cent ground beef, so later, you can savor the filet mignon.

No ***** If you're class of '13, DON'T DO IT!! Some of my best memories I'll never tell my wife about but share with my son (if i have one) over a beer happened after college and in my mid-20's.

Engaged at 27, married at 28.

And there are time when I still think I should have waited until 30.

Age 22-25 was incredible. Probably the best years of your life. Single, living in a big city with no shortage of things to do, and money to spend.

Meh, I got married at 23, and it kept me out of all sorts of trouble I am sure. If your woman is low maintenance, and lets you have your fun, there's no problem at all.

I've seen the other side of the equasion with relatives and friends, and it sure seems like people in their 30's or later have slim pickings for SO's without serious issues. Even a damn giant computer database can't reliably match them up!

Get married right of college saves you money, because 2 months pay on an engagement ring while you're working for near minimum wage in college is nothing compared to 2 months scratch once you have a salary.

Get married at 30, marry a chick that's 25.

That would be ideal.

At 25, the girls are mature, if they were going to get fat, they would have by now, yet they're not so old that you know they are BSC.

Pretty much the same here. I probably should have waited to get engaged after I got done with my training as firefighter. There's so many tail out there that showed interest w/o me doing anything except walking around in uniform. But I'm married and loyal.

Yeah, being over thirty and single means you might as well kill yourself. Especially if you have a vagina.

I got my wife's ring at DiaGem off Westheimer. Picked out the stone and then the setting and details separately and had it made and saved a ton.

And I didn't get married till I was 36

Get something reasonable and affordable. Don't follow that 2 month or whatever the "rule" crap is. I went to robbin bros and got a custom made ring I designed. Picked out the diamond there too.

And this is my opinion on diamonds, choose color over most other "c's". I wanted it more clear than yellow. Next, clarity...I didn't want to see much inclusions with naked eye. Who cares if you see a lot under microscope. Nobody walks around with one.

I started dating my wife at 20. Married at 25. Divorced at 28. Remarried at 35 to the most incredible woman I ever met. That being said, ages 28 to 35 were incredible being single.

Back to the topic at hand, call Chuck at Fifth C. I've also used Benjamini in the galleria area and been really pleased (not an Aggie).

Went to the or in Humble since I live in Kingwood. I was happy with everything and they didn't pressure me into anything. I paid more than I could have by going another route I looked into for a similar 1ct diamond, but I justified it by looking at some friends of ours who bought from an independent who was out of business when they had issues with it and needed warranty work. The money the guy gave me about covered the setting and I only had to get a diamond.

Good idea. I love it when her friends get engaged and brag about their 2ct ring that looks like Mack Brown's teeth.

He ribs is just over 1ct (1.01 IIRC) and color E and VVS1 clarity.

ya the last part you said is definitely something I'm more interested in than the 2ct monster. just the way I am personally. hmm...seems like i have to go to jareds, revisit helzeberg and robbins bros, and hit up the aggie jeweler....although buying from someone not is a store makes me worry about the warranty and long term wear and tear that may occur to the ring....instore retailer just seems safer for a first time buyer. and 24 isnt too young, i just know what i want and have it.

oh and the save for the house comment, we already live in one together hahaha so i can't use that one either...starting to think i screwed myself....lol

Jonathan's Fine Jewelers, ask for Jay. Find a ring design that you like and take a picture to them and they can make it for you. Or you can work with them to customize your own.
