Damn, these were great. Gave recipe to sister as well, and she loved them.

Updated Instant Pot version:
Rinse peas and put in Instant Pot (no need to soak overnight). Add all remaining ingredients, stir, and cook on high pressure for 16 minutes. Turn off cooker and let sit undisturbed for 15 minutes. Vent any remaining pressure, stir and serve or set on warm until ready to serve.

Solid as always. I smoked a ham for Christmas this year so ended up simmering the ham bone for an hour before hopping into the recipe. Made them even better.

For some reason we had 3 pounds of peas in the pantry so I decided to cook it all. Holy smokes I have a HUGE pot of black eye peas. Ill be eating these for a few days.
