Another vote for that really rough section of 5th Ward. Never seen anything else like that in Houston. I got lost one day just trying to find my way back to I-10 and couldn't believe my eyes driving through there.

The Bloody Nickel is the worst . I went flippin off lockewood one day and and found myself on mars.
extex-that map is 'tad' outdated. but it is pretty cool to look and see which street names are still the same and which ones have been changed.

Enigma, those are some really cool maps. Lots of things that I didn't know, like Rice being labeled as Rice Institute, Buff Stadium as 'Bucsh Stadium' and Hobby as Houston International

Which, according to my old man, led to the nickname "Rooty-Toot Institute".
Being son of a working class family in the Heights in the 50's (which was not quite as ghetto as it would become, but near as upscale as it is now) he did not have a high opinion of the place. Bit of a class thing I believe.
I had not realized IAH was that old. It was under construction in 1965.

that stretch of Jensen north of I-10 is really bad. always a lot of activity around there. would love to be a fly on the wall (not a white one) at nightime in that "domino shack". always a few crackheads twitching int the middle of some of those intersections.

It's in the nickle, on one corner there is a Popeyes, across the street is a Churches, on the other side is an Ace Cash Express and on the fourth corner is an illegal gambling hall. Also, can't remember the street name but it's south of I-10 East and intersects the road that goes to the Washburn tunnel. That whole area is thoed.
