I've heard that bleach is good with oysters, Buscemi. You should try it next time to help wash em down.

The 1960 one was one of our old favorite after work spots when I worked over on that side of town. If you ever saw a tall skinny white dude hanging out with a bunch of short vietnamese 4-6 years ago there, that was probably me with some old work buddies. Now the I-10 Fry one is closest.
Their gumbo is killer as well.

Went yesterday to 1960 Capt Tom's. I feel like I got gyped. I only got 15 oysters in my dozen.
Got a dozen at pappadeaux today. What a deal.

I'm not an oyster eater, but if I needed seafood of any kind near Greenway Plaza, I'd be at Goode Co. Seafood in a heartbeat. In fact, that would be my choice anywhere inside the loop for seafood.

Please try Danton's on Montrose. Absolutely the best quality oysters/shrimp/fish whatever. If it's not high quality they will not offer it. They have a great deal on HH oysters and beer. A little difficult to get to but well worth it.
Must tries are the BBQ Shrimp/Crab Cakes and Stuffed Jalepenos. Whenever they have the catfish enchiladas get them. Excellent.

how much was your initially investment in Dantons? that location has a bad history. hopefully it wasn't much.
Went to Papa's Seafood House at 610-I45 north yesterday for lunch and got 3 dozen oysters for $3.95/dz. I didn't eat all 3 dozen but my 16 were damn good!

Got a few dozen again at Pappadeauxs on Richmond this weekend. Been 4 times in the last month, got the oysters everytime. Fresh and a heck of a deal for $3.95.

Had Pappas oysters last night and felt that they were much smaller than previous times.

Oysters are so much more expensive today than they were years ago. I remember going to Papas Seafood on New Year Day and having a dozen oysters for $12 and having beers with my sons watching bowl games. Nowadays, it seems you can't find a dozen for under $24. (Oh, and the SJL reference is disgusting. There's no way she can get elected, is there?).
Anything under $18 a dozen is a great deal these days. Unfortunately.

Am I the only one that has been disappointed in Acme?
I've only been to the one in N.O. twice, but I from what I remember, it was amazing. I've been to Acme on Westheimer 4 times now and every time has been a solid meh.

Tommy's in Clear Lake used to have them for $5 a dozen certain nights (not even 10 years ago). They are still good over there though even though the cost is similar to everyone else.
I'm just eating oysters there, so can't really speak to the other food. I like that they have Ghost in the Machine too, so that helps.
I get chargrilled oysters there. Remember the ones in N.O. being way better.

About 10 years ago Ragin Cajun has 25cent oysters and $2 beers for Happy Hour. Miss those days
cheer up...now they have $2 oysters and $25 beer. It's not so different.
Thursday at Riel on Fairview- oysters were good; 2 of 12 were small. Happy hour drinks from 5-6:30.
