The best part of eating your oysters at Captain Tom's is the atmosphere and the cheap finish to the meal as opposed to Pappadeaux.

pvsher, IMO, you can taste the freshness of good oysters. Also, I think 'good' oysters are generally firmer than 'not so good' ones

like ardy and vero said, if you really want to taste the difference between fresh delicious oysters and what alot of places sell, go down to gilhooeys and enjoy. But if you must stay in houston the price of p-dows makes it nice

good oysters taste much cleaner and fresher. bad oysters also smell. Ive been hitting up pappadeauxs lately for their $3.95/dz. I will say about half of them are very small however when getting them from there. Still a good deal and their oysters are fantastic.

you definatley dont want to come across a rancid oyster that tastes like Shiela Jackson Lee's taint after running a mile on a Tine summer day.

Hopefully the next oyster that Buscemi eats tastes like this and somehow renders him unable to use a keyboard any longer.
