Miyako was voted 2nd best in Houston for sushi, so we decided to go. This was because the #1 best is in Sugarland - and I live in Atascocita. We went to the Kirby location.

While the food was great - the service was HORRIBLE. They had an all-you-can-eat sushi special for $25, but you had to order it, it wasn't a buffet. Not a big deal, except we were there for over 2 hours, mostly because it was THAT slow. A few people got up and walked out because they were never bought any food after they ordered. A girl at a table next to me ended up yelling at the waitress because she never got a single refill. We had to ask several times before we got refills. When we finally were ready to go, we had to ask three different people to bring our ticket, and even then it took forever.

I loved their sushi -- but I'd never go to this location again. Hopefully the Westheimer location is better.

I've eaten there several times and only had a noticeable problem waiting for service once (when the place was packed and we were in a somewhat hidden table).

Is Oishi still open? We went there the other day and it was closed and looked like it might stay that way...

"The Fish" on Gray is the best in town.

I have been to:

1. Uptown Sushi
2. Miyako
3. Zake
4. Sushi place off Chimney Rock / Westheimer
5. Sushi place in Rice Village

Uptown Sushi is a close 2nd. But The Fish is money!

What's the #1 that's in Sugar Land?

We got tons of AZN's out here so of course the sushi's good.

nevermind found it.

People like Japaneros because its a nice twist on traditional sushi, and its in a cool location (town centre). But it's definitely not the best tasting and quality sushi in Sugar Land.

Kubo's is quite good.
Went to Soma the other day - exceedingly cool & hip joint.

Kubo's is the best I've been to in Houston. Teppay is also quite good but very expensive. Osaka on Holcombe is fast becoming my favorite.

Miyako is a chain and not anywhere in the top 5 in Houston.. The fact it was rated high on a poll shows you how clueless most polls are with regards to food. Let me guess, on this poll the best burger was Fuddruckers, with Becks Prime a close second?

is that osaka related to the one on westheimer?

miyakos is a chain, but again, for a HH, it's the teets (i'm cheap)

RockOn - what are better sushi places in Sugar Land than Japaneiro's? I'd love some suggestions because I'm not aware of any. We did Sushi Rock once and my god it was horrendous. It's closed now.

Azuma is the best in the Hosuton area IMO.

Kubo's in Rice Village.

The lingo roll, Kubo's Roll, and the creamy miso salad dressing give it the win for me.

Actually the salad dressing alone gives it the win. You could drink that stuff.

Osaka and Kubo are my favorite. I love the Lingo roll at Kubo. YUM!. They also have an appetizer roll that is beef (cooked) wrapped around asparagus that is HEAVEN.

Bluefish House is by far the best in Houston.

bluefish is by far the best if you have only been to Cafe Japon & Miyako.

Kaneyama is the best, though completely traditional.

we must have polar opposite tastes. i went there for lunch and they served philadelphia rolls without the philly cheese. they also included the caviar on the rolls which i hate. when i asked about the missing cheese they said they dont do it that way. WELL THEN WHY TF IS IT CALLED A PHILADELPHIA ROLL?!! maybe she was f***ing with me? the actual sushi was average. maybe it's better at dinner

bluefish is decent but over hyped for whatever reason
