They should have had the Musers start at 7:00am (or maybe 6:45)...and go longer into the morning. All it means now is that I switch to podcasts earlier.
7-10 would be great.
Yep. That actually gives them more sleep. It also hits all/most of drive time, and reduces the amount of spareness on after them. It also means they dont have to pay Donnie/Matt for that next hour.

Not sure why they didnt go that route

Ratings start at 6.

gotcha. but i think most would have their dial already there, and they could have had a producer host a recap show...

Ratings also count from 9-10, and I can't imagine they're higher for Donnie and Matt.

It's definitely worse for the P1s this way.

Yea the worst offender of the shortened hours is that they still found a way to fit the normally 9:35 Ranch Report segment in but look to be completely dropping Gordo's Corner.

I'm sure they've already paid or had an agreement for the Ranch Report for this year. They're not going to finish that. I would think they go back and look at it all once they finish up the agreements.

They always replay the 8:40 bit the next day. Did they do something different today?

No

Ideally the show should be all killer, no filler now, being 1.5 hours shorter. But I guess some of those filler segments (8:40 replay, Ranch report, pigskin panel, picks with P1) are akin to breaks for them, because they don't really have to create content. Cram all the good stuff into a three hour show and you're not lessening the prep by much, just the hours, which is still significant.

Ratings start at 6.

5:30A to 6:45A - Ticket Top 10 from the previous day and finish with the 8:40 bit replay, so essentially your 6A ratings start coincides with the best of the previous day and the popular 8:40 bit.
6:45A to 7A - Expanded Ticker
7-8: Open (10 min), O-Deck (10 min), Sports Seg 1 (20 min)
8-9: Muse (10 min), Sports Seg 2 (10 min), Random Seg 1 (10 min), 8:40 bit (10 min)
9-10: Corner (15 min), Sports Seg 3 (10 min), Random Seg 2 (10 min), Mix (5 min)

One Gordo anchor per hour. One sports segment per hour (plus a longform right out of the gate for the biggest sports story in the news cycle, and that could be split depending on what's going on). Two random segments to give flexibility (guests, travel stories, etc.).

Hosts get more sleep in the AM, still done before lunch, still reduced schedule. Primo ticket material during prime drive time in the morning. Keeps Donnie and Matt from having to stretch.

If they were in tune with P1's desires, they'd simply replay all of Gordo's segments from 6 to 7. Problem solved.

How much does David get paid for that. He's on the station like 3x a day it seems. And its the same 'report' 3x.

I recall when the Ranch Report was presented by Micky Spagnolla from Valley Ranch.

Ooof.

Immediate station change.

Had this image Spagnolla was in a little rat hole/cubby that he would slink out of to do those reports... and once completed, he'd slink back.

Those "reports" were nothing burgers, big bags of nothing.

Somethings never change.

Wow…..a riveting 6:50 segment about Austin Westlake's special teams prowess during their playoff run this year….including stats.

I really enjoyed the segment. You can tell Jub is really proud of his son.

I'm on the record as saying that I don't mind a family pride segment here and there. All of the hosts have done them through the years and that's part of the charm of the show. But George rarely, if ever, references anything the other sons do and the Westlake/Argyle special teams performances are becoming an annual segment. It could be a quick hit, part of another segment…something… We didn't need a full 15 minutes on how scared opposing punters obviously were, or what the average field position of the opposition was during a playoff game between two Austin area schools.

So one 15 minute segment a year about his son's team is too much for you?

I'm more offended that they are still doing the pigskin panel, let along still doing two segments on it.

Hopefully Pigskin Panel and Ranch reports are just playing out the string of the football season contract and won't be around or significantly limited going forward. Doubt the RR goes away completely...it may be unofficially required to maintain some level of access to the Cowboys.

Me too.

Also I could do without the 8:40 bit replay everyday. Give me a Gordo segment about anything rather than a replay of this bit during the shortened timeframe.

They should replay the 8:40 bit before 6AM.

The only time I listen to the Ticket is during the drives to/from work.

Often times I leave for the office around 8:30 am. By that time will get what, 1 segment then into cross-talk w/ the next show?

Oh well ... listening to 97.1 KEGL's "The Woody Show" instead.

Interesting tidbit from Aikman at the end of his segment. Said he contributed NIL money to UCLA to bring in a quarterback, who didn't play as a freshman, then transferred. Said he'll never do it again.

Will be interesting to see how it evolves. There is a core that will give no matter what, but what he experienced will become more and more common, and some donors are going to react just like he did once they get burned enough.

Most big donors are savvy businessmen who will start pushing for NIL contacts, penalties, obligations, etc. They aren't suckers for long.

True, but as agents continue to get more and more entrenched on the players side, there is value to shorter term deals and being able to shop your player again. Gonna be a bit of a tug of war. The more strings you want to put in the deal, the more $$$ you may have to give
