Sirois was talking about his newest resolution is being punctual and he was ironically late to the taping yesterday.

He said the reason he was late was because he was "cry laughing" listening to the ticket midday show.

I've always been the biggest sirois fan and thought he was done dirty by the ticket. But at the same time, if he stuck it out as long as he did he was soooo dumb to leave when he did. Did he really think washed up rhyner would be able to compete with the ticket from scratch? Rhyner didn't give a **** about sirois and only took him to try and stick it to the ticket.

Sirois was really dumb for not seeing through that and not just staying at the ticket to get a host gig. I get it if sirois would've left 8-10 years ago. But leaving when he did seemed very dumb.

I've always liked him so hopefully he's doing well. And maybe it was still a good decision. I just wish he was a just at the ticket. He would be great with Donny, Monty or literally anyone.

He should start his on podcast. I won't pay for the dumb zone bc it's just not that good (and this is coming from someone who listened to every episode of the hang zone). but i would definitely pay for a sirois podcast no question.

I get the timing is different, and opinion on these guys are mixed at best with this group, but Ben and Skin were weekend/drydock guys 20 years ago. Up until norm left in the past 2 years, they would have had no shot at a real gig. Instead they went Live 105 to ESPN to the Fan to the Eagle to recruiting Rhyner and starting the freak, now back to the Eagle. They are both in their 50s now with kids in college. Had they stayed on for 40-50k a year, instead of probably 2 decades of 6 figures, probably hefty since moving to the fan (guessing 200 minimum in the last few stops), where would their families be?

Again, I know what many think of them, but Sirois, Danny, and Julie were all in that same boat. Sirius and Danny both got passed up for full time roles and better paychecks. They saw an avenue that in the short term paid them better than they ever got close to with the ticket.

It failed. That happens. Hopefully they both find a new avenue that makes them decent money. I doubt Danny's 3rd wheeling the DZ is doing that.

Yeah, I don't think there was anything wrong with making the jump. They had a good commitment from I heart radio and a pretty dang good lineup. I was actually surprised it didn't work.

That's why I said I would have understood if sirois left 8-10 years ago. That would be understandable and likely a smart financial move. But he left when it was pretty obvious that norm would be leaving and he's host that show with Donny within 1-2 years. It just didn't make sense to stick it out that long and then leave when he did imo.

Disagree. He stuck it out for ~10 (?) years, got passed over multiple times, and there was no real indication that Norm was going to retire. Saying it's obvious that Norm was about to leave is pretty revisionist in my opinion.

Yeah, Norm seemed like he was willing to die in the chair, or at a minimum hitting 50 years on air which would be next year.

So I can see him deciding to shoot his shot. The bigger issue is that he was a bridge-burning moron with how he left.

And maybe he (and Danny as it turns out) decided he didn't want to work for a company that treated longtime employees like that

The reality is he would probably not want to go back. The ticket treated he and Danny pretty poorly.

The Ticket is the definition of "the sum of the whole being greater than the parts," both as a station and as individual shows. That being said, one of the biggest things it has in it's arsenal is the 30 years its been on the air, and the fact that it found itself when terrestrial radio was the only thing available. In my opinion, the mistake they made with The Freak was the assumption that the concept was portable to terrestrial radio in the 2020s.

The lineup was a bunch of spares and an over-the-hill Mike. Ben & Skin consistently get their show cancelled and the rest were first time hosts.

This is the key here to Sirios. At the time Norm and Cat had made it clear publicly that Norm would hit 50 years so Mikey would be making peanuts for another 4 years. Also at that time he was married so I would think there was a pull to do more. So he takes the money, everyone else would have too. No one knew Dan & Jake would simply bounce and Norm would suddenly retire. I am sure it is even more complicated than that behind the scenes at the station and in his personal life.

The only treated poorly story is that I've heard is that they weren't paid dick. But that's terrestrial radio producer gigs in general. I do feel like the Ticket took some advantage of that by having them on air as much as they did, but they were consistent with it. Popping off on twitter and other streaming after he quit doesn't really accomplish anything than potentially closing a door for yourself to something that you wanted for years

Outside of the freak changing formats back to the eagle (and subsequently bringing them back on board) what shows have been cancelled?

Not live 105
Not ESPN
Not The Fan
Not the Eagle

Mino and Bass are absolutely brutal. I tried to listen after the Rangers won the world series but couldn't last 15 minutes. The Ticket used to be a station for the sports common folk but are now nothing but arrogant lefties who puff out their bird chests about how much money they make. George used to be the voice of reason but he let the bi-sexual , no talented little ***** completely change his core values throughout the years.

Two things can be true at once:

1) Sirois got jerked around by The Ticket partly because terrestrial radio's bottom line sucks and Cat knew he could get away with paying him poorly.

2) Sirois is a meathead who has a toddler's understanding of how the world works. (This isn't unique to him amongst his colleagues.)

I mean, yea…

Midday at a fledgling live 105 to Galloway lead in a ESPN… step up

Galloway lead in to hosting afternoon drive at the fan… step up

The fan cuts all the bits after 4 years of them being there so they go to the eagle to do bits

Ben was the freak brainchild.

So yea, if you look at the path, they made $ decisions several times.

Show the spin? Show how it's not career progression? Guys that get fired all the time don't somehow show up on new stations, with higher paid jobs, either in better time spots or with more creative freedom, exactly to the date that non-competes ended….

Claiming the other seems like a bigger attempt at spinning a narrative.

I became a Ben and Skin fan in the 2008-2011 timeframe when the Rangers were building and going on their first world series appearance runs. I think that is when they were on the Fan. Enjoyed them when they were with Galloway on ESPN. Lost track of them with the Eagle move. Enjoyed them on the Freak. They're just goofy dudes. I enjoyed them much more though in their earlier stops.

Love Ben and skin and know them each. They have definitely been in control of every move. The Fan was the closest they had to being fired but they were pretty in upset with the evolution away from guy talk and definitely pushed their next move.

Know them both individually very well too… this thread just has a hard on for trying to minimize them at all posts and Rhyner during their last non compete (2019/2020) podcast explained why. It's the Ticket bunker mindset that still exists today. They put that in place day 1 and it helped the gigantic growth. You have the hosts and the P1s and anyone on the outside or anyone that leaves is no longer in the club and should be demeaned.

I bet B&S are not everyone's cup of tea. They are still good funny dudes that will treat you whether a p1, a "tolo" or somebody that listens to your Spotify only, as nice and accepting as anyone. They have grace and realness that Corby, Gordon, Craig, and now to a point George should and do not have.

Yes I defend my friends from blatant lies to demean them. Say you don't like their show, say you think they are a bag of nothing, but don't lie about them to appease the mid 90s bunker mentality for devotion to people that on the whole will treat you in person like **** compared to B&S and KT/Krystina.

And that's coming from somebody that's always listened and has come back to P1 status the past year or so.

B&S have the worse cases of TDS in sports radio. I have to be honest, im surprised they didn't drink the kool-aid and end it November 6th. Maybe January 20th will be too much for them.

One of them voted for Trump. I bet that's the same number or more than the 10 ticket hosts
Danny Vermin

There is zero chance either of them voted for Trump. I'm no longer a ticket fan and doubt any of them voted for him either.

Danny Vermin
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I dont believe you. The last time I listened to them was when they were still on the freak and I turned it over and they were just railing on conservatives.

As far as to why I'm on this thread, I used to be a p1 since 1996 and just couldn't take it anymore after the covid nonsense and the fact I know Craig Miller is butt pirate and lives a lie to the public.

I'm with DV on this one. Been a P1 (now former) for 20+ years but this year finally turned me off for good. Tried to hang on to the Musers as long as I could (Gordo will always and forever be my leader) but after all of the turnover it's just not even an average product at this point. Haven't gone in on DZ (and maybe never will) but the KTCK collapse is inevitable.

Still thankful for the many years of laughs and radio gold, but the little ticket has moved so far away from its original greatness that it's no longer worth hanging on, IMO.
Danny Vermin
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I get it. I was genuinely angry for a long time as the ticket was always there for me , making me laugh , when things were not going well sometimes. It just amazes me that the leadership wouldn't just tell then to stfu and don't alienate half the listening audience. I'm in a few Facebook groups of former p1s and we reminisce about the good old days. There are alot of former p1s just like us out there.
The Shank Ag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
You can not believe me but if you listed to all legacy media iver the past 7 years, no crap there was railing on conservatives. It's what they are told to do. One of the two hosts did vote Trump for fact.

I'm going to finalize my discussion of this with one thing. My family's story is public on the premium board. My youngest born the beginning of 2022 was a surprise Down syndrome diagnosis at birth. He's had numerous hospital stays and had a near death brush as an 10 month old (vent for a week, picu another week). Both after we announced what happened after his birth and during the hardest 2 weeks of my life, both Ben and Jeff checked on us, and mentioned a need for prayers on the show.

No, I'm not best friends with either. I talk with one once a month at best. I have a family member that is very much closer with one of their families. But both have been amazing men to my family, and my disagreements with one of their's politics doesn't mean I don't have love for them both.

If I thought TDS was a reason to tune out on people I would only listen to podcasts at this point and wouldn't be listening to the musers and hardline daily.
