Sean overtalks about everything, as if he's trying to prove that he knows what he's talking about, but it comes off as boring and long-winded. He's smart and comfortable on the air...but not very interesting at all. He shouldn't be any higher than a ticker guy/producer.

Agreed. 1-3 is as boring and generic as it comes.
Mino has such a boring, low-energy delivery, which paired up with Sea Bass' boring, monotonous delivery makes for a total snoozefest.

Even why today doesn't suck, sucks. Just have Monty, corby, and Davey do that, the rest are so unfunny and boring its painful.

Is line 4 guy still there?

Haven't listened to what y'all are discussing but it did make me think of a question. What would have to happen for some of y'all to finally punch out of the ticket? In 2023, I can't imagine spending any time voluntarily listening to Mino or Sean Bass, especially with as many entertainment options as there are at our fingertips.

My only connection for the most part these days is this thread and any Gordo segments if I'm in the car at the time.
I recently moved to Sydney so everything is backwards for me, I wake up to WTDS and put the Musers on after dinner. Still love it for what it is and try not to worry about what it isn't anymore.

I think Gordon leaving would shut me down on it. I don't listen to any of the other shows anymore due to work and life but I still wake up to the Musers and typically try to listen to ODeck and Muse.

The 8:40 bit this morning is solid proof at just how talented and funny he is. The second half of that but (I'm 90% sure) was all improv. Craig kind of threw him for a loop teasing about his voice and then off the cuff he just started riffing funny stuff. He had George in tears (or almost) and George has been around his schtick for three decades.

I think that's most people's feeling, when Gordo goes the show is over, he's the spiritual leader and embodiment of the hilarity and ridiculousness of our little ticket.

1-3 is the worst. don't justify it.

The only explanation for 1-3 is money. My guess is Mino is basically at the same producer salary he was before. Sean Bass is probably barely more than that. And Monty as a brand new producer only working for 2 hours is at peanuts. So that's an entire show including producer that is probably making less than half of what Dan was.

Yup Dan was around 300 and Jake 135. Just guessing that SB is at 60, Mino at 50, and Monty at 35 maybe.

It's actually not bad business. What The Ticket needed was stability for a couple years. Let the listeners get used to Donny and Matt. See how your new show does from 1-3 (pretty much give them enough rope). Then in two years you have your data to go out and get new hosts.

You gave the loyal employees a legitimate shot. Youre minimizing potential risk by limiting their exposure/damage by giving them mid afternoon. And it buys them time to look at potential candidates at other stations.

Then McClearin likely joined on for less than what Jake was making. Donnie probably gets a bump for the extra time but definitely not proportional. So big picture, they cut costs by essentially cutting Norm's whole salary out and half of Dan's.

Set up a decent 10-1 and just hope 1-3 is short enough and at a dead enough time of day that listeners will suffer thru it until the Hardline is on vs switching it

My guess is they don't actually know how to execute a candidate search. They haven't done it since Bob and Dan.

I'd be curious if they've done any stabs at trying to quantify the number of morning drive listeners listening because of Gordo. I'd bet it's around 50%.

This morning's Muse in the News was a great example. I can't even remember it anymore but there was a serious news story that just jumped a tangent into something spontaneous and funny.

I just remember thinking, "Holy cow. How did they get here?" Then I remember Gordo just turned the wheel hard when Jub bit on something and off they went.

It's wonderful radio when they just goof around but nobody drives it like Gordo. It certainly doesn't happen when he's gone.

And still the best is when Junior is replaced by Doocy as Gordo just kicks him square in the balls and Doocy eggs it on.

They reached out to people. They probably found what a lot of companies have found out. It's way cheaper to promote than to bring in established talent.

I think we overlook the fact that, by nature, something that is special can't be replicated. If it could be replaced/replicated, it wouldn't be special. There's no talent out there that can replace the chemistry they had with the old, full day lineup (Musers, Norm&D, BaD, HL), and it appears they are just playing out the string until the Musers retire.

Nostalgia Jub can (and will) talk until he's blue in the face about how the station will "overcome", but the fact that it won't ever be the same is a testament to what it was, and that's okay.

Dan's salary in the lawsuit was poorly redacted. Started with a 2, but that could be $210k or $290k. Then he had a potential ratings bonus that is unknown. But overall, ballpark of $300 is probably right

We also know Sirois was at $45k as a producer after 13 years, and his whole rant was about that being how little they pay producers who are essentially on-air talent for several shows. So the Monty $35 guess is probably close too

I'm guessing Monty and the other new guys are getting paid a bit more in their new roles than the folks that left. That's generally how it works in the corporate world, companies are more likely to pay more to entice new people than give raises to existing employees for the same role. It's a horrible short sided thing, but in the corporate mind giving raises to existing people without changing roles opens pandora's box to everyone else asking for a raise.

That said, I'm sure Monty isn't making much as the producer of a 2 hour show, but it's definitely more than Sirois was making when he left.

Because of the National Labor Relations Board filing. Matt Bruenig used to work for them as a lawyer, so he knows their system very very well

And he's a major P1 who's been on IJB multiple times

There is no question in my mind that their two lawyers are doing this pro bono because they really like Dan and Jake and want them to succeed

Matt Bruenig has filed NRLB complaints against random strangers on Twitter. True story. Not bad to have a borderline autist who lives for this stuff in your camp.
