If he realized the correct spread he still would have picked them. Would be funnier if his misunderstanding of the spread actually cost him something.

I remember there were a few video montages of their most popular/viewed trick shots with live commentary of what went into the trick shot or the result of the shot.

One live trick involved shooting some "arrows" or balls to the various dudes that fanned out to locations in the crowd ... then some betting that the trick shot could not be completed successfully. The "winning" shot was to one of the dudes that set up right next to one of my nieces.

Also there were kids plucked from the audience to take part in some of the events on stage.

All of it was highly timed/scripted... there was a giant digital clock on the other end if the arena. I ended up focusing on that clock and almost to the second the segment/trick would conclude.

Was a money-making, well oiled machine.

Edit: now that I think about it ... it was the Dudes in the audience that shot "arrows" or balls to a target on the stage.

It's really impressive what those guys have built from scratch.

Degenerate gamblers bet in what they call "units." A unit is some amount of money you allow yourself to bet. For some people a unit could be $50. Others $50,000. Just depends on how much you can afford to lose. And they'll bet a certain number of units per week. So if you bet in $50 units and you have $500 you're willing to gamble. You have 10 total units to bet with.

A triple play would be betting 3 of your units on a single wager. Essentially you might allow yourself one double and one triple a week on the bets youre the most confident in, and the rest singles.

If you listen to Norm's picks of the Pole some weeks he won't have any triple play recommendations. Meaning there's no bets he's feels highly confident in.

I always chuckle when I recall a story that Bob told about Justin a few years after they've adopted him.

Honduras (? Wherever he's from) was playing a match at Pizza Hut Park. They had always tried to reinforce with him pride in where he was from as that was certainly a big part of where he was. So he has his Honduras shirt and flag tied around his neck and they drive to Frisco for the game. They go to get out of the car and Justin has no shoes. Because he was 6, he just walked out of the house with no shoes as 6 year olds are wont to do. So he's carrying him into the stadium barefoot, surrounded by Honduran fans feeling like he's being judged that he's adopted this little boy but not even given him a pair of shoes.

Thankfully he snagged a pair of FCD flip flops and they had a great time.

That was a decade ago and that story still sticks out in my mind.
