This is dumb logic. How does trading away your generational superstar prepare you for a franchise relo?

The conspiracy theory is kill support and lower the payroll. Put a bond up for a new stadium and watch it fail. Blame fan support and say the town left the team. Move to Vegas.
Trading Luka is the biggest sports news in DFW in 10+ years! Maybe more? All of social media, sports media, etc. is talking about this. What do you expect? Stars talk and Rangers 40 man roster moves??gabehcoud said:

Luka Doncic finally speaks about getting traded to the Lakers and LeBron. Crazy stuff! pic.twitter.com/NeO5MpLn49

The Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in a trade that is so lopsided and out of left field that you cannot even believe it is real. It feels like the NBA allowed the Lakers to write up a deal and submit it without the Mavericks having any say in the matter.
Nico just said Luka gave no indication he wanted out or wouldn't sign an extension moving forward. He also said the Lakers were they only team he talked to.

My wife just suggested that maybe Nico is about to take a job with the Lakers. Totally ridiculous, but it would explain this nonsense.walton91 said:
Unless this is a casualty of the rsn implosion. The Adelson's can afford it but could the Mavericks? Adelson's are probably less willing to pour money in to make up for a shortfall than say Cuban would. They are here to build a casino not win NBA titles. Anyone seen any comments from Cuban, btw?
Bob summed this up pretty wellQuote:

No owner in their right mind would self-sabotage the value of their franchise like that (who was very recently in the NBA Finals).

Then what is your explanation for the trade? I'm not saying the moving to LV theory is correct. But this trade is literallly the worst trade in the history of sports. So obviously people are grasping at straws.
I don't even care that we traded Luka. I'm just disgusted that Nico literally talked to one team and got nothing in return for a generational talent.
