I think Mike Bascik earned his pay today. He and Norm were talking about the struggles that Chris Davis is having, and Bascik basically told us what his problem is in lay man terms that made sense. I don't think I've ever heard anything like that on Sports Talk radio.

He's having trouble with the inside heat. So in order to cheat, he starts swinging earlier, and then when it's off speed, he's already screwed and he can't do something and loses sight of the ball.

Good stuff.

I enjoyed Bascik's talk on Davis as well. He still kinda sounded like a know-it-all while he was talking about it...but it was good stuff. Overall, I think he's been a good addition to the ticket staff.

You know, I don't mind him sounding like a know it all about baseball. It's the other sports that bother me.

And in limited doses, he's good. But i can't stand a whole show of him as a know it all.

Agreed. I think he's starting to realize that it's Norm's show....not The Norm and Bascik Show.

Anyone listen to 93.3 much today? I don't see that format lasting much more than a month or two. Anyone that has tried it has failed.

Jack even to some extent tried that format for the first month and then went the way of radio consultants.

There's just not a market for sub top-40 indie rock in this town.

I'm a big fan of Bascik & I wish the HL would pick up Followill full time in the Mavs offseason. That show needs somebody who isn't sports retarded in a big way. He's also a hockey fan & a little Stars coverage might be nice since they're the flagship station.

I don't listen to Norm often, but I've liked Bascik so far. To me, there's a difference in being a "know it all", and just being very knowledgeable. Bascik knows his baseball for sure. I've even heard him explain in the sense that he HAD to know the game inside and out to make up for having less natural ability than the guys he was competing against. And I like that he can bring it down to our level. Kinda reminds me of Golic talking football and locker room stuff. I'm sure Michael Irvin knows a lot abot football, but he can't explain it to us.

Like I said, i don't mind his attitude when talking baseball. But he speaks the same way about everything. Everything.

Agreed! Knowing your sport is one thing.

As far as Fallowell being the permanent +1. I think he has great chemistry but not too sure he brings enough to the table Ticket wise. But beggers can't be choosers.

They need somebody as a +1, whether permanent or a few times a week. It is sad that, as of recently, the reason the HL has been as listenable as it's been is the producer and board-op.

The morning show is typical radio morning crap. Nothing original or interesting.

The rest of the day is great.

Father/Son Whoop Ass Talk is awesome!

I drove home from work late yesterday and listened to Greggo for the first time on 103.3. That show is PAINFUL to listen to. Choppy has a big bag of nothing, and seems to dislike Greggo. There were moments of awkward silence and absolutely no chemistry between them. I can't imagine that show lasting very long.

^^^ I agree. I've tuned in to that show twice -- once when it first came on, and a second time several months later. The second time was just as painful as the first. There wasn't an ounce of improvement, or even a speck of chemistry between the two. It's beyond awful.

And +2 on the father-son whoop ass talk. Craig: "The only time it should be acceptable is if the father can knock the son out in one punch."
