lol I literally go to Northpark mall every week (it's by my work and I'll take my daughters on walks inside when it's too hot and get them a dessert at Cafe Lavazza), and i have no clue what this bot is talking about.

Those of us familiar with the once infamous Greenspoint (Gunspoint) Mall are cracking up hysterically at the notion of Northpark being ghetto.
I actually haven't noticed that about Northpark. About once a month, my friends and I will drive over while the kids are in school and go to lunch at Eataly and then walk around. And every couple months, I take my daughter to dinner in Dallas and then we almost always go to NP after and it's been fine then too.
Place is crazy busy on Saturdays. Barely could find parking yesterday
The apple store has always been on par with a dps office visit. Id wager that draws most of the tatted up obese athleticwear crowd.
I was just there from 11-2 this past Saturday with my daughter. I never felt like I was in danger.
Dallas population is up exponentially, thus the amount of crimes committed will go up. New apartment buildings do not influence crime as much as one poster would like to think. Old apartments that charge cheap rent and do not monitor criminal tenants, do.
Northpark has been getting hit with petty thefts every week, but tell me one place in Dallas that has as much foot traffic that isn't.
Big city living isn't for everyone. Once my kid goes to college I'll be moving, as its not for me, but my feelings towards Dallas aren't directly correlated to crime. Traffic, poor road conditions, taxes, overly populated places are.

Apparently, someone had enough time on their hands to go digging through my old posts, as if noticing the undeniable demographic changes in DFW is some kind of crime. Funny how WGann3 is more bothered by me pointing out the obvious than the actual issues staring us all in the face. But hey, I get it. The truth hurts. It's much easier to virtue signal and live in denial than admit what's happening right in front of you. So, if this poster wants to spend their time scrolling through my posts instead of addressing the very real problems in this area, more power to them! Maybe next, they can dig up some stats on rising crime rates and crumbling schools in Dallas and even our once beautiful suburbs, because let's be real, those changes aren't just happening by chance.
In the meantime, I'll keep talking openly about the facts while WGann3 keeps playing Inspector Gadget.
Not North Park/ HP but 2 mins down the road on Oak Lawn, I sat through a robbery last year at 6 PM while getting a device issue resolved at the AT&T store.
In a nearly full store, two males came in with wire cutters and proceeded to scream and shove customers out of the way while stealing high end Apple and other electronics, setting off alarms, before running out.
I had just arrived so stayed after for a bit to speak to the manager about it as I still needed to get my issue resolved. He advised that the same groups of young men had hit that and other AT&T stores in the area for the last few years, punching several customers the last time they were there a few months prior.
Cops didn't show up until almost an hour after the incident that evening.
Same demo had been filmed firing rounds down McKinney Ave several nights the year prior near Tates. Thankfully increased enforcement has addressed most of those issues in/around Uptown the past 2 years.

If you're scared of NorthPark, then just stay home and buy your **** on amazon. I really struggle to believe any grown man is afraid of that mall.
The car dealership had just installed the new license plates on my new car with my old Texas A&M University Former Student license frame and we went to see Gladiator II at Northpark Mall where some thug stole the new license plate on the front of the car with my former student license plate frame!!! I was so sad. I called the police who told me to file a report for the stolen plates because it is happening around town. I had to drive back to the dealership for new temporary plates and now I have to go see the DMV for new plates. I loved my license plate frame. I cannot get it replaced exactly as that one all steel forged single color.
Threads like these make me think of a particular scene in that goofball movie "A Blast From the Past", when Brendan Fraser comes out of the bomb shelter after 35 years.

Is the Galaria a bad area. I'm up here for the next couple days. It doesn't seem bad to me but I've stayed in some crazy crap before.

The mall itself isn't bad; it doesn't have the luster that it did in the 90's-2000's, but it's definitely not ultra sketchy either. The surrounding apartments and small retail strips have gone dramatically downhill though, I would be cautious of leaving valuables visible in your vehicle and be on alert at night. Things improve when you get to Addison and the Prestonwood area to the north, much of the retail/restaurant activity has migrated that direction.

When Valley View closed a lot of the clientele from there started going to the Galleria. This happened around the same time that many people just stopped going to malls altogether and buying everything from Amazon.

We made it through the galleria. Yes the yogas were out. I will say that there are some weird lookers up here. I'm sure it's the same when and if y'all come down south. Ft worth was interesting and Arlington. Overall an enjoyable visit. On a side note I lived in Grand Prairie back in the 70's when I was 4-5 years old. Very much not the same.

I go to Northpark mall about once every 6 weeks to stock up on Italian foods from Eataly and also to check out the high end timepieces at various boutiques... have not encountered / witnessed any bad actors or criminal activity.
I think most of the bs happens in the parking lots / garages. Vehicle smash n grabs, purse snatching, etc. As in most situations, situational awareness and not looking like an easy mark goes a long way.
I don't remember the last time i went to Northpark, I think the last mall i went to was Stonebriar or Firewheel...
Having just been to North Park I did not for once consider it ghetto.
