Well, it's all relative. People who are truly from the ghetto (this does not include Northpark, btw) have never set foot inside a Costco or IKEA.

It may shock you to realize that there are people of all races that can be affluent.
Ever been to a Costco or IKEA?
Is that where the affluent people shop?
Diverse shopping crowds YES … affluent NO … those are discount stores.
I think you accidentally argued the opposite of what you were trying to prove.

Costco shoppers
The average Costco shopper has a household income of $128,000, compared to $80,000 for shoppers at Target and Walmart

I think most of the bs happens in the parking lots / garages. Vehicle smash n grabs, purse snatching, etc. As in most situations, situational awareness and not looking like an easy mark goes a long way.

Keep your head on a swivel, your eyes straight, and looked pissed off..........and you will scare off most criminals.
Northpark has gotten worse, but relative to some other malls it isn't too bad.YouBet said:
Yeah, it changed pretty dramatically even in the last 5-10 years. We used to go there on the regular because it was a badass mall. Probably one of the most high end malls in the US, if not #1.
But then it got really scary in the last 5-7 years and we stopped going. Felt like you were in the third world. Jewelry stores stopped letting people in unless by appointment and now they employ bouncers at the entrance.
I feel safer at the Corpus Christi mall.

The Koreatown at Royal and Harry Hines. But then again, that's Harry Hines. I go there occasionally for some stuff but there's tons of homeless hanging out near the 645/35 interchange. The Sam Moon center just has less business but it has escaped most of the issues of the former by not being on Harry Hines.
If you want extra ghetto try Southside off of Botham Jean, I-35 and Riverside (why they want to gentrify this is beyond me). My first vehicle had a bullethole from the previous owner getting caught in the crossfire there before he moved to Allen in the 90s.
Thankfully Hickory House is on the other side of 35 and I only stop when I'm driving down to Aggieland.

You took your kids to Anthropologie?! Don't you know that's a notorious hotspot for gang activity? Yikes!
There is a whole wall in the basement covered in mugshots of known gang members who frequent the mall, not that it is ghetto by any stretch.VP at Pierce and Pierce said:
Only klan members (cough highland park) would classify North Park as ghetto or remotely ghetto.

Fine there whenever I go. Still a jewel of a place.
NorthPark Center is one of a kind. There is nothing else like it in the world. NorthPark Center is essentially a large museum with a shopping mall inside of it.Quote:
NorthPark Center in Dallas, Texas was named one of the "7 Retail Wonders of the Modern World" by Shopping Centers Today in 2007:
Quote:
"From its inception in 1963 and completion in 1965, through its subsequent expansion in 2006, NorthPark Center was envisioned as a space to promote art and culture and remains a culturally active public space for residents and visitors of Dallas today.
For this reason, NorthPark Center has been recognized with the Texas Society of Architects Architectural Landmark Award, which honors an architecturally significant building or structure, or group of buildings or structures, in Texas completed more than 50 years ago and continues to inspire
the profession today. "
NorthPark is the only shopping center in the world with nearly 50 museum-quality modern and contemporary artworks on view. The work is a selection from the Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger Collection, with artworks occasionally on loan from surrounding institutions. Though the center aims to display some of the most influential art of the last century, the curatorial focus is on artwork that can be appreciated by the wide variety of visitors the center receives daily.
