I have bad news, good news, and what you can do about it…
A bullet point summary is below. Get full details & video on my website here.
- A data security failure at the Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD) has caused private taxpayer information to be exposed on the internet, including photocopies of driver's licenses, possibly social security numbers, and bank account info.
- An internal investigation was opened, but the TAD Board chairman announced they were closing the investigation without plans to inform affected taxpayers and without interviewing all the TAD staff who were blowing the whistle.
- Three board members (including the chairman), who have a track record of bad decisions and sweeping major issues under the rug, are being replaced next month by newly elected board members.
- These same lame-duck board members are trying to rush hiring a chief appraiser before they leave office on Dec. 31 instead of allowing the newly elected board to make the hire.
- Share this info with neighbors and everywhere online
- Attend board meetings (2500 Handley Ederville Rd, Fort Worth)
- Dec. 14, (9 am at TAD) the board will be interviewing chief appraiser candidates.
- Dec. 21, (time TBD at TAD) the board plans to select and name the new chief appraiser.
- Email the board members to urge them to let the new board hire the chief appraiser: Tony.Pompa@tadbod.org, JR.Martinez@tadbod.org, Jungus.Jordan@tadbod.org, Vince.Puente@tadbod.org, Rich.DeOtte@tadbod.org
