ain't that the truth... We're doing really well for being 36 and 34. And I feel dog **** poor living out here. The people I know personally that have put in $240k+ pools in the last year proves it.

Granted, and I think this is where people think everyone is just up their eyes in debt...

One is a partner at a very large consulting firm. One is a pretty senior project manager for a huge construction company (relocated here from Az so probably got a huge raise and sitting on a ****pile of equity). And one is a software engineer and his wife is an MD.

So yeah, these aren't blue collar people out here in little ol' Prosper.

Collin County is big on keeping up with the Jones's.

Its not a good way to live...and by live....I mean caring about what is in another mans pockets or house.
A person might have more money than you.....that does not mean they are living a better life.

Unless you are Tom Brady, Elon Musk, Floyd Mayweather, Bill Gates, Lebron....etc there is always going to be someone out there more badass than you with more $$$$.

back on topic somewhat.

School board voted to drop the tax rate by ~13% last night. Lowest rate in almost 20 years. Granted.. values are up but that's set by the county.

Also, that rate goes to fund the operating budget, of which over 80% funds teacher salaries.

Student enrollment is up 3,281 from beginning of school year last year. That's 13.3% growth in students... in 1 year.

This is why the district is having to build multiple schools a year, every year, and needs the funding to do so.

I'm in K-12 construction in the DFW area. The building of schools, additions, renovations etc. isn't going to stop anytime in the near future. Especially with all the bonds that passed back in May.

In my experience and opinion, these extravagant schools being built have so much waste and unnecessary rooms and collab spaces and pick high end, high dollar finishes.

Of course, the architects are paid a certain percentage of the overall project value, so why wouldn't they throw the kitchen sink at every set of plans and tell the schools that these things are needed/necessary? I wish my schools were half as nice as what kids are attending nowadays.

THIS is the problem of it all. I've got family in both education construction and commercial and they've jumped an architect's ass more than once on stuff like this.. Door hinges that cost $35 a piece? what in the actual fk are you thinking? It's because that architect is making % on that vs. a perfectly fine $3 one.

Prosper clearly needs more schools, I think the Allen model of mega-schools is incredibly flawed. I just disagree with the extravagance and waste of the Prosper model.

I agree but I don't think the community does.

The "community leadership team" or whatever - basically appointed representatives from the community asked the board to go for MORE money than the 2.8bn. They saw the state of many of the original schools, Rucker, Folsom, Rogers, etc. and the state of the admin building and realized much was needed to be done aside from just building more schools.

There are actually plans to start building some bigger elementaries that are potentially 2 stories... The district is also struggling each year playing whack a mole on demographics, geographically.

The west side (out near Aubrey) is blowing up because of multiple developments going up and people pouring into them... neighborhoods are starting to age out somewhat too due to pricing (we are the only family on our street with elementary aged people - that's rare in Prosper).

Allen actually just CLOSED some elementary schools as their zones were aging out - one was converted to a professional learning center. Similar things are happening in Plano.

You've got it good in Frisco, Jay. Elementaries with multiple APs and 30% less students than Prosper's.

they've been living there for 6 months now maybe... and I don't think I've seen that jeep move.. ever. Looking at it right now from my office window.

You should see the progress on the pool and pool house, lol. They're 4-5 months in on it and only have the foundation for the pool house poured and the pool has been poured and partially tiled. Who knows what the hold up is.

I drive by it all the time too and I noticed that. I've seen the Jeep move a few times and I've thought about parking my truck there longways and walking home just to see what they do.

Also tells me they picked the wrong pool builder. I know a lot of companies are hurting right now with masonry labor.

it's some company I've never heard of before... Probably picked them because they've done some crap in D Magazine or something - she seems like that kind of woman.

And they're building a complete structure with HVAC and plumbing. How they got the HOA to approve that, I dunno.

They may have not even run it through the HOA since they sure as hell didn't check the jellyfish lights.

Lot of folks have the Jellyfish lights and have them approved from what I was told.

Which street has the Lambo and Ferrari? I missed those. I know the one dude on the corner of Star Trace got the McLaren, two new Corvettes, and the new Range. My first thought is damn I would hate to pay that annual auto insurance bill.

they're approve only on the front of the house. These jackwagons have them around the entire perimeter. There was a nice blue glow in their neighbors bedroom and bathroom when those were on.

Also, those are the stupidest, most hideous things you could put on your house. Makes it look like a circus.

Miramar drive, facing the west.

Is that Star Trace house that hideous black painted one with the Audi R8? I remember seeing a brand new range out front as well.

I drove past the other night and they had some cary rally going on in their driveway/ street... so strange.

There were a few corvettes, an R8, a GTR, some mustangs and then the lambo and Ferrari.

What's strange is they all looked to be about 16 years old.

I don't really mind the jellyfish lighting that much. What really sets me off is all the custom golf carts coming out of Light Farms to Frontier Park with super coach dad who just knows his kid is going to be a professional athlete. The delusion is definitely elite, your kid, not so much.

Also, I see this everywhere, but the stupid mom in the Tahoe who parks in the fire lane to watch practice instead of the empty parking spot 40' away.
