3 houses caught fire in west Frisco from lightning strikes today. Is that common in the rest of the metroplex? Seems to always happen here.

Fields of massive 2 story homes that are far taller than any surrounding structures or trees.

A few people on my street have the lightning rod systems installed in their roofs. One right behind me and it's a big 2 story (we're a 1 story). I figure that's enough mitigation for us. Knock on wood.

When I moved into my Prosper neighborhood in Dec '19, 3 houses were struck and burned down that following spring. All were within eyesight of me. It's sadly something that always crosses my mind up here w storms.

A house behind us (in Flower Mound) got struck and burned down a couple years ago. I couldn't rest easy after that so a couple months I got lightning rods installed. I noticed my house was taller than any surrounding trees and it made me nervous.

I had fire due to lightning at my house.

The cost of lightning rods is insane and they don't guarantee anything.

We had a very strong storm yesterday evening. Took out my neighbors dead hackberry that was already scheduled to be removed today and it fell on our power line to the house which is what I was afraid of. Actually saw it happen. Somehow it didn't break the line and we still have power.

Measured golf ball (Callaway) sized hail on the Fate/Rockwall line.
